Bon Odori - 2018 Summer of Tokyo

After the kids outdoor activities, we rest for a while, and soon we were ready to go to the neighbouring shrine for their bon odori event! Okasan Y insisted me to wear the yukata for the lock experience.

Oh.. alright.. I got to walk in tiny steps to the shrine nearby, I do not really used to it as I am not that feminine usually. By walking along the street, we saw some other kids were catching something in the drain. We were curious and went to have a look. Surprised, they caught a mini lobster in the drain!! Unbelievable!

When we reached the shrine, there were stalls already setup and the first stall already started selling and people queueing for the ice flakes!They really loved the ice! Okasan Y bought few bowls and we shared it. I felt so uneasy to eat in the yukata.

Then we clean our hands and prayed at the shrine, I am not very sure about the correct way, I just followed what they did and repeated it. They clapped once and pray and clapped twice when finished... something like this, I cannot remember it very well.

After pray, we turnaround and the kids got excited about the fish scooping games stall! The kids were provided a paper net scoop to scoop as much fish as they can. However kids were too excited and broke their paper net. They slowly learnt to scoop gently yet swiftly as the paper got weaken after too long in the water. Finally they managed to caught some fishes.

Then, we walked to next door, there was a fire station there. Today they has special open to public for bon odori event. It is very Great!! They organised some games free of charge for the kids and let the kids to view and sit in the fire engine!

One of the game that excited me a lot were the bag in candies and snacks as much as you can into a plastic bag that given by the fireman. It is a lot of fun seeing the innocent kids picking and choosing the snacks! They got to figure out how to squeeze those candies and snacks in a little bag.

The other interesting game was scoop toys in a pond by paper net again!! Now, kids smarter as they learnt the lesson before. Therefore, they all manage to scoop quite a number of toys! Hooray!! Happy kids!!

They then climbed on the fire engine to look into the details of the fire truck. After a while they back to the stalls and bought some noodles to share together, they were all hungry already. At the same time I have got to remove yukata to feed my baby too, so sorry for Okasan Y's effort.

Finally we headed back home before the bon dance (bon odori) started because the kids were too tired and some already got asleep.
