Lungs There is Red Fluid
the presence of fluid in the lungs actually indicates many things that certainly can not be concluded only based on the story here. There are many conditions that can lie behind the gathering of red fluid in the lung.
Some conditions may include:
lung infections, such as your doctor suspects
the presence of malignancies such as lung cancer
pleural effusion or presence of fluid in the lung membrane membrane, mostly due to infection
trauma or injury to the lungs, especially by blunt objects
pulmonary edema such as heart failure
It is difficult for us to determine the exact diagnosis of your family complaints in the form of fluid found in the lungs, only on the basis of exposure to your condition and without any direct examination.

A tension pneumothorax is usually the result from blunt object or heavy trauma that can be caused by a a fractured rib puncturing the pleura which compromises the pressure in the lungs.
This creates what is called an exudation where basically fluid fills the space between the lung and lung sac (pleura) and is treated by an ICD (intercostal drain).
You can also find blood in the intercostal space with HIV compromised Lung Infections(pneumonia).
The diagnosis can be made observing a swelling on the chest around the affected side and crackling (crepitations) when listening with a stethoscope...
But this is good information, when you suspect you having a lung full of blood its usually a good idea to seek medical attention ASAP!
