Bang! Bang! Bang!

Fireworks littered the sky as the students from various school entered the largest stadium in F city.

The ABISC (Awakened Beings Interschool Competition) or just the Interschool competition consisted of a city, regional, and lastly state competition. The 10 winners of the city competition will then be eligible to compete in the regional competition, and the 3 winners of the regional competition can then proceed to the state competition.

The Tanhausser academy's performance for the last decades had been lackluster to say the least—only managing to enter the regional competition and then losing early. Their academy's rank in the state of Nirvan remained at the 10,000th most of the time. This is greatly disappointing considering that several decades ago they are ranked at the 100th which is considered a miracle since they are just 4th class school back then.

Unfortunately, that miracle did not repeat itself the following decades as they moved from 2nd class school to a 3rd class school—greatly disappointing many if their school's alumni.

Whether Tanhausser academy is going to be demoted to a 4th class school or not will depend in this years interschool competition. Hence, the Tanhausser's academy principal pull out all the stop to allow the school representatives to enter the Sanctuary.

For now though, they needed to pass the city wide competition or all of their efforts is going to be in vain...

Tanhausser academy's bus finally arrived at the coloseum. One by one the students walked out of the bus and lined up in an orderly manner. The students visages are awespiring and one could see the burning fighting spirit in their eyes. Their training had been incredibly hard and harsh. But whether the training is worth it depend on result of this competition.

"Very good!"

The principal looked at his school's students and could not help but exclaimed in approaval. He could see that they are ready to give their all in this competition.

The day before the city competition, the principal had given a heartfelt speech that reeled up the students burning desire for victory. Though Tanhausser manages to enter the 10 of the city competition every year, the victory wasn't easy and their rank revolved around the lower middle of the top 10. But this year he wanted the number 1 spot and he believed their school's student could give it to him.

A coliseum staff led the students from Tanhausser academy to their designated slot. Their they waited for the opening ceremony. While waiting the students from various schools scan their competitors but most of their gazes land on the students from Tanhausser academy. Or to be more precise to the academy's top 10 students.

All the schools in the competition have informations concerning their competitors. This is very normal and a standard practice for every competitions. As such everyone are aware who to look out for.

Though Tanhausser academy is a seeded school in F city, they are almost always on the lower middle of the top 10 schools. But this year is very different. This is due to the appearance of two monsters—Dylan and Dianne.

Dianne had always been on the radar of the schools in F city and have been preparing ever since. But Dylan's appearance was a total surprise. If it not for the duel inside the Sanctuary, none of the school will ever know of his existence. The said duel had showcased Dylan's strenght and mysterious ability. And the lack of information about him alarmed all the schools not only on F city but the neighboring city as well.

Unfortunately, despite all of their resources, the information they gathered about Dylan was very sparse. Their only clue of Dylan's ability is the virtual battle between him and Moe, as well as his duel inside the Sanctuary. As such they are more wary of him in comparison to Dianne.

Dylan: "sigh..."

Sensing the stare from the other schools, Dylan cannot help but sigh.

"You're very popular aren't you?"

Vivian who is lined up besides Dylan teases him after noticing that most of the wary gazes from the other schools are focused on him.

"Please don't tease me class rep. I rather not have this kind of attention. With how intense their gazes are my first ability is totally useless now." Dylan cracked a wry smile.

"And whose fault is that, I wonder?"

"Ugh. I have no comeback for that."

Dylan can already feel the incoming headache. Though he did not regret doing what he did in the duel, he did regret showing a bit too much. If he held back a bit maybe the others won't be too wary of him. Fortunately, he only used a small part of his [Shadow Doppleganger] that day or it could have been much worse.

A small smile blossomed on Dianne's face after seeing Dylan being teased by Vivian. She could tell that the atmosphere become much lighter because of it. It seemed that Vivian has a talent in leading people.

"No wonder she's their class representative. She's good at reading people," she thought.

"It seemed that that guy had relaxed. Our class rep's really good," fatty Jing praised.

"Right. The students from other school wanted to pressure Dylan so they could take advantage of their mistakes. Unfortunately for them we have class rep," Ed agreed.

"Those who wanted to pressure Dylan are probably disappointed right now," Nami giggled.

"Hmph! They're going to regret their actions later," fatty Jing sneered.

"Thanks for the help class rep," Dylan said in a soft voice.

"I didn't do anything though but if you really want to thank me then you better do your best in the competition," Vivian answered with a smile.

"Got it."

Dylan now calmed, looked in front of him with determination. Since the students from other schools thought so highly of him, it would he rude if he did not return the favor...

After about 20 minutes of waiting all of the schools in F city had arrived. They then saw the mayor walking towards the podium. The mayor then made a rousing speech before signaling the start of the city wide competition. The students looked at the huge screen broadcasting the start of the competition, their hearts burning with the desire to battle.

And with this announcement, the interschool competition had officially begun...
