A Gamer story // Videogames Review.

in #esteem6 years ago (edited)

I remember being a gamer meant becoming an expert in a game and enjoying its history throughout it. It is the example of the game that marked me for the rest of my life:

With the arrival of the internet, a new aspect to the gamer world was included, you could become expert in an online game where you compete with other users. The more you play (the more time you spent), the more chance you have of getting rare items, of leveling up killing monsters, knowing powerful clans, hunting legendary creatures, terrific.

There are also player vs player (PvP) types, which improves them even more, because you do not compete to see who kills more creatures, but to see who is the most powerful among the users. WoW, Silkroad, Lineage, Tibia. Maximum addiction.

Now... We grab all those games and put them in the blender:
Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA).

MOBA games, Source

I think the Moba games bring together the best of the previous platforms, and even exclude the worst. In my opinion, the problem with games like Tibia, the Lineage, is that it really does not matter how good you are when you play, a stupid guy with a $50 suit of armor is always going to get you in the ass. Maybe you are 20 levels above, but that armor, THAT FREAKING ARMOR! I always hated this.

With Tibia, the following things happened to me a lot: All those achievements that cost me so much, the dangers I went through to leave the safe area where the players could not be attacked, the tactics to go to the less frequented places, and other efforts, I lost them all in a single death (this was the case unless you had money to buy an amulet) at the hands of a 100 lvl who did not get anything from my death, my objects did not work for him, he did not get any experience, it was just a key on his keyboard and click on his mouse.

I lost everything, he earned nothing, and yet he came back to sell me my things, so many keyboards died that day.

LoL Champions, Source

What happens with the League of Legends? I think the Moba meant a new gamer era.

Why? Because only your skill counts. Nothing else. The only thing that counts is your level of play, what you have learned and the knowledge you have of its mechanism. The ability is not bought, it is earned. It can happen that you have 40 thousand hours played and you are still bronze. Tragic but the signal is clear, you suck.

You can not imagine the amount of implications that this new modality has in the gaming experience, it is immense. First, the choices that the players make are going to be totally personal. The choices of: Which champion to use, what line to play, what objects to buy, what target to attack, we choose everything.

We do not take what we get by chance, we take what belongs to us!

We buy what we need for a specific moment, we make strategy, and, in addition, we have to take into account our team and the enemy team. Immense.

Out of this, you have 132 champions, each with their own story, with their own rivalry, their own game motivation. It is magnificent. There is something wonderful at the beginning of the game and is that, before becoming an expert with many champions, you can choose your role of preference, this role will define your game mode, in what sense?

Do you like to go to the center of battles, receive the atacks that won't do shit about because of your resistance, and spread a good deal of damage around you? Look at these LoL Tank champions.
[Garen, Renekton, Darius, Malphite]

Maybe you prefer to go in stealth, appear for a millisecond to finish with the enemy champion that does more damage and has less resistance. Here you have your assassins in LoL (my favorites)
[Kayn, Talon, Katarina, Fizz]

Others choose to be the most useful, they are the real MVP, real teammates, those who help, cure, stop the enemy and weaken it, some of LoL supports (the most underrated of the game)
[Nami, Janna, Taric, Allistar]

And like these you have a thousand other ways to play, because there are several ways to be a tank, to be an assassin, to be a support or a shooter.

Let's take the example of the shooters: You can be a risk shooter or a safe shooter.

I, personally, as I am a damn tryhard and try the craziest shit, prefer to play with the shooters of risk, is the example of vayne, lucian, draven. They are at risk because they have little range of attack, high mobility and lethality. Perfect for a tryhard.

However, after a while and 5 consecutive losses, I realize that Iit is not working for me, so I try with a safe shooter: Caitlyn, Ezreal, Jhin are examples of safe shooters, because they can attack from very far and they have several escape measures, hbut, they are not so good at catching weak champions, they are good at knocking down the big tanks, because they make an immensity of damage per second.

This is the case with the rest of the roles. You can be a damage tank or a mass control tank, you can choose damage with abilities or damage with attacks, be a magician or an assassin, mass damage or concentrated damage, you can play as you want, and each game is different.

That's what moba's are like, they are freedom. That's why I love them, and although I've only played LoL and some others (like the Lord of the Rings) I know that the rest are also great, like DotA, or Heroes of Order and Chaos.

The community of LoL is sofocating during the game, it is full of flamers (people who verbally abuse), feeders (very bad people who deserve to be verbally abused), spammers, scripters, etc.

On the other hand, when they are not playing, they are creating amazing content for the game: skins designs, theories of the plot, curiosities in the interactions of the game, FanArts, cosplays, humorous videos on youtube, League of Legends in particular has given to exist an impressive range of projects, it has reached everywhere. For this and much more, thank you, Riot, but please, improves LAN servers, jeez!

If you want to see more articles about the LoL, let me know in the comments and I'll get to it! Here all I do is give a very general vision of the game, but there is a lot more!
