TDEE or your Total Daily Energy Expenditure - the amount of Kcal you require to maintain your current weight depending on your lifestyle activity levels.

To initiate Fat Loss and to avoid Starvation Response we need to create a slight energy deficiency in your nutrition, remember that fat is stored energy and we need to burn it off.

It is important to ensure that you only take away a maximum of 500 kcal from your TDEE, anything more and you are inviting Starvation Response to kick in. This should enable you to lose approximately 1lb a week from your nutritional deficit.

Now I know that may not seem like much but you need to trust me, there are so many factors affecting Fat Loss and I promise I will expand on them in future posts, losing 1lb from nutritional deficit and losing a further 1lb from activity increase a week is a tried and tested and most importantly SAFE method.

Just to show you how complicated Fat Loss can be, if you lose too much Fat in a short period of time you release hormones that stop fat from being released and also increase your appetite.

There are others including your skins ability to shrink with your drop in size, lose too much too fast and you end up with those skin flaps and no-one wants that.

There are important things you need to consider with TDEE – 500

If it takes you below 1600 kcal for men or 1200kcal for women then you must go with a 1600 or 1200 kcal nutrition plan respectively and make your deficit purely from increasing your activity levels, The same can be said for those of you that have TDEE’s of less than 1600 or 1200 to start with.

The fact is the complexities and energy requirements of your bodies are immense, and these minimums must be adhered to for your health and wellbeing.

Don’t for a minute think not having -500 is a bad thing, even with a 1600 or 1200 plan you will most definitely have some kind of calorie deficiency combined with an increase in activity and by changing your nutrition to the good natural foods I have suggested your body WILL release that fat.
