Moral Declination

moral declination can simply be defined as the breaking down of morals and values which had hitherto been protected by our predecessors.

Morals generally cut across the behavioural patterns and ethical of an individual in line with the cultural practice of the people. It is embedded and noticeable in day to day interactions of the people:
Mode of dressing,
Manners of communication,
Mutual understanding,
Respect accorded to various individuals in the societies to mention few.
These are all of evidence of good morals and values.
In these days of highly sophisticated reasoning however, there are, without any doubt, a whole lot of vices accompanying such unprecedented reasoning. The presence of technology, cross-cultural practices, education, inter-tribe activities (such as marriages, businesses, etc); and all these in part are the ingredients through which morals declines.
For the purpose of this article, much attention shall be on:

• Cause
• Effect and
• Solution.

CAUSE
The major causes of moral declination can be traced to, amongst many other things, advancement in technology, cross-cultural practices, education, inter-tribe activities (such as marriages, businesses). The question then is how do the following affect the topic under discussion? Let us look at them one after the other then.

The spirit of advancement in technology is that of "stop thinking the way you've been doing, there are better ways of doing things now". The above quote is however, usually at twrongpense of cultures and true sense of morals. Technology usually plays down on cultures (conveyor of good morals). Whether a thing is morally justified or not has little or no significant as far as technology is concerned.

A cross- cultural practice is another point to note. As much as this has been a good tool in filtering some bad parts of some cultural practices, it has also brought in some things that leave much to be desired, most especially in the area to dressing and mutual respect that existed among people. A culture now sees nothing wrong in actually dressing contrary to what used to be obtained. As a matter of fact, they even now see their own culture as old fashioned. A child who would by cultural standard prostate or kneel to greet an elderly person now sees that as a barbaric practice and would even make jest of others for doing so.

Educational institution which in itself is a good concept, where morals were once taught has also turned around to be where more things that negate moral standard are new learnt.
Moral instructions which used to be an integral part of curriculum are fast forgotten now.
Inter-tribe activities such as marriages and businesses are equally a source of moral declination. Many of so called " new fashioned " ways of dressing and communications, which invariably constitute part of the menace we all are battling with in the name of moral declination crept into our cultures through this manner. E.g, a woman who gets married to a man of another culture or tribe would want to satisfy her husband even at the expense of her good moral culture as long as that's what the husband wants. Many of the eyesore dressings that pervaded our societies today are brought in by some business people who travel abroad. ............to be continued
