The Albert Street Uniting Church, Brisbane, Australia.
I thought this first photo was suitable for my friend @erikah's #sevendaysoutside weekly challenge as today's theme is: #bricksaturday
The beautifully constructed brick work looks even more impressive with the ivory coloured arched windows providing great contrast to the red bricks.
I simply had to add these other photos so people could admire the structure of this church. It used to be so eye catching before it got swamped with the concrete jungle that has been build around it. But, I daresay it was always going to happen given the the central location of the building.
Aren't these doorways and windows just divine? (Pardon the pun lol) You can see some of the buildings from across the road reflected in the windows. George Henry Male Addison designed this church and it was built in 1888-1889 by Thomas Pearson and sons. The Albert Street Uniting Church is the spiritual home of Wesley Mission, Q'ld.
Understandably this church is a much sought after venue for weddings as the interior is very special also. I will have to take another trip into the city for those photos. The church was originally built for 1,000 pounds and in 1920 a marble honour board was erected in the vesibule to commemorate members of the congregation who served in WW1.
The trimmings which are a main feature of the buidling are made out of white Oamaru limestone. It is an example of a Victorian Gothic Revival Church using the cruciform plan shape, the steeply pitched roof forms, the stunning spire and the heavy buttressing of the facades.
It is listed on the Queensland Heritage Register on 21 October 1992.

this is the St John´s Cathedral in Brisbane. It looks amazing from the outside.
