Pala merupakan tanaman tua yang harga bijinya lumayan mahal
Pala bisa juga dijadikan sebagai rempah rempah atau alat/bahan masak dapur
Sebelum dipasarkan, biji dijemur hingga kering setelah dipisah dari fulinya (kawi ). Pengeringan ini memakan waktu enam sampai delapan minggu. Bagian dalam biji akan menyusut dalam proses ini dan akan terdengar bila biji digoyangkan. Cangkang biji akan pecah dan bagian dalam biji dijual sebagai pala.
