December 1, 2018 - Day 54. Last month of 2018 -what’s wrong with advertising on the blockchain
Today is the 54 th day of my adventure. Being here in December has humbled me. The world is a different place to me. The way I look at things or people is different. Not good or bad just different.
@abh12345 has done a couple posts on a discussion allowing advertising on the platform. Over the past year all that has been discussed is how the platform doesn’t need it. What people do not realize is that we are in a competition. With all the coins out there they are all competing for the top spot. Steem is no different. What makes a coin useful is its application and demand. We have an application but lack on the demand side.
What advertising does is it brings revenue into the platform plus creates demand. This is a win win for all involved. I don’t think that anyone can be against that. What I do think will separate the for and against is how it is implemented. It is about reward vs inconvenience. How much are you willing to put up with for the amount of reward you receive. This is what needs to be worked out.
Dialogue is what needs to happen with people smarter then I am to reach a compromise that all can accept. Thank about it , throw it around and let’s see if something can come out of it.
If it doesn’t happen here with steem it will happen with another application that will surpass steem .
Throw you two sense into the conversation. Thalk about it and bring it up to the forefront. We could use revenue pumping into steem

You just stated why there won't be advertising any time soon. Demand.
Advertisers want eyeballs. Right now, people are leaving Steemit. We need to increase the number of regular users. When that happens, there will be a market for advertising.
It would have to be cost effective for advertisor to invest that is for sure.
I"m definitely not opposed against advertising as long as smart placement and targeting is being implemented.
And It's not like we have another choice at the moment. ..
Advertising will bring money to the Blockchain, and that's exactly what we need.
That is how I feel and I think we are 8n the majority.

But we're the small guys, our votes don't count, lol. Even if all minnows, redfish and small dolphins say yes, it would make no difference when a couple of big stakeholders say no. That wouldn't be a very wise thing to say, but hey, we are on SteemIt... we should be used to unwise decisions, lol.

Just a discussion,
the big guys already know about it they just don’t know how to capitalize on it yet.
I could see being ok with LIMITED advertising if it was in a specific place (the sidebar?) and it wasn't obnoxious. I don't want a Steem where we have the same click-bait, flashing ads that every other site has. The clean look and simplicity of the page is one of the things I like about Steem.

That is why it is so important to voice our opinions and these things need to be adhered to if it ever come about
