February 8th - Looking For Alternates -

I don’t think that I will be able to do any sailing in the near future. Being the person that I am I have figured out a solution. We have a very large lake not far from here that will work as an alternative.

For the past 5 years I have purchased a yearly pass for the use of the park. Last year 2018, I did not use it or visit at all. When you get your vehicle yearly registration sticker for you tag you can get a season pass for all State Parks for $8. Being I don’t pay a registration fee ($60) for my vehicle tags I have always supported the State Park.

So now instead of sailing the oceans blue I will sail the lake. I know, I know its Not the same. But in time we might be able to get out on the blue waters. We have to make do with the hand delt to us. Constantly moving forward. So the plan will be to create a blue water boat on the lake then move it to the Gulf. We will figure out that step at a later date.

Let look at the amenities offered at the lake and see if it is something we can or want to do.

The park features 29 miles of asphalt roads and parking areas; a park office; 2 marinas; 223 reservable electrical hookup sites with water; over 400 primitive camp sites; 4 trailer dumpstations; 6 boat ramps with 22 launching lanes; 4 courtesy docks; 2 fish cleaning stations; 7 modern pit toilets; 9 showerhouses; 1 shelter with restrooms; 2 large group shelters; 2 medium group shelters; 29 small picnic shelters; a large shelter and a restroom; 3 nature trails including a 5 mile bicycle/walking trail; and 9 modern cabins.

The lake offers spectacular sailing opportunities and hosts national sailing regattas It’s a breathtaking sight to see more than 100 multicolored sailboats on the lake at one time. The lake is also known for wind-surfing opportunities. The Ninnescah Sailing Center on the West Shore Area is the 'headquarters' for sailing at Cheney and the marina offers supplies and services for boaters and anglers. Anglers are attracted to exciting fishing for channel catfish, white bass, crappie, striped bass, wiper and walleye. The park's 22 boat launching lanes provide convenient access to the 9,500-acre lake.

Not to bad. I could spend the whole fall, summer and spring there. Marinas, docks, showers, restrooms WOW. Being that its only 30 min away the wife will want to come home. NIGHTLY !!! Hahaha There is something to be said for sleeping in ones bed and air conditioning.

9500 acrea lake for sailing. That’s not a bad size. I have never been enthusiastic about lake sailing. But I think this might be a great compromise. It will check all the boxes. It makes senses . Affords all the means to make appointments , provides exercise and quality of life resources.

The circle is where I live and the X is the lake. The green to the north is the entrance. As you can see its a big lake.

At my current situation it is very hard to make plans. My planing looks more like a flow chart full of yes, no and what if’s. I don’t have a problem with that because the future for all of us is an unknown. Without any planing we would all be stuck in a rut and life would not be as vibrant as it is. I will take what comes and make the best of it enjoying every moment, no matter how bad or good, with the same smile on my face.

I kicked of an email to find out more information on the sailing assoc. on the lake. The annual fee for membership is around $550.00 . It is not mandatory to be a member to use the lake or the parks facilities I listed above. The sailing assoc. has its own area and to use any of its facilities, membership is required. So I am not to worried.

I don’t know if this will come about or how it will happen if it does. Or any of its degrees that could happen. It’s all one day at a time. There are to many things that could happen in the mean time that could delay or prevent any of the single events.

Well sailing away and returning to sleep in ones own bed it a GO for me. And No one said it wasnt allowed to look to the future.... hell the future holds Our plan too to go SF are future too sooooo

Me too as far as going home 🏡. I going to play the macho man and talk about doing it the hard way. LOL
A/C and own bed, can not beat that.

Youre spirit is always up i love that

I do get/ have my moments. They only last for 5-10 seconds. But the anger level is beyond measurement.

Anger level is anger manageable

Yes it is that is why its only 5-10 seconds
I wish the weather would get warmer so I could go outside

I love seeing that you are making plans for the future. Keep doing it!

Really hope you get out on the water this summer and enjoy some sailing. Never been...more of a sit on my ass and drink beer while out on a boat type of guy. More Power the better!

the faster you go the less you can enjoy the beer drinking.

no matter what I have to keep pushing forwarding. even if I have to crawl . sailing is a dream. it is nice to dream. I will try my best to complete it. I do not have that much on my bucket list. that is one of them.

It sounds like a great bucket list item and it's perfect that you have a way to do it close to home.

I Have another lake to my east. A little further and bigger. I have to look at it and see . Do a comparison to see which one is better.
It’s not the same as having a Great Lake in the area. Hugh differance.
LOL
One day at a time

Hope your journey well sir @wolfhart. But keep in healthy and don't forget to keep on weather monitor. God bless you.

Livin in Kansas a weather onitor is monitory. Tornado’s 🌪 do sneak up quietly and quickly. We still have a couple months before the season starts.

We are all on a journey May God also bless you.

I hope that you bring all your ideas to fruition!

Wow... this sentence is so dull in English. Let me rephrase that in Portuguese:

Espero que leves as tuas ideias a bom porto. (I hope you carry your ideas to a good port.)

(I hope you carry your ideas to a good port.)

I do like this one better and is appropriate with the theme of the post. I hope so to. and that the time to achieve it is available to me

Now! This is what we call it a step at a time! You can do this as a training part before you really have a sailing over the blue sea😊... we must find another theme song rather than "My Bonnie" ... LOL @wolfhart😉😉😉 I'm more enthusiast then you about this lake sailing! I really wish to see your post about this later. But... I will wait😊 patiently.

You will never have a dream come true if you only sleeping or never have a dream before, right😉. Sound too optimist! But.. I wish you could do that soon!

a refresher might be in order. but you can get the basic principles but when you add weather into the mix it changes everything and you cannot get that on a lake like it effects you in open waters.

new theme song (part)

Fifteen men on a dead man's chest
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum
Drink and the devil had done for the rest
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum.
The mate was fixed by the bosun's pike
The bosun brained with a marlinspike
And cookey's throat was marked belike
It had been gripped by fingers ten;
And there they lay, all good dead men
Like break o'day in a boozing ken.
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum.

Sound like a song for a pirate of carribean 😂😂😂 that's nice and quite perfect for your lake sailing 😉

Disney made up a lot of the songs in their movie pirate’s of the Caribbean. I have some old sailing songs and I beleive that is one of them. Not to sure of the source, did not look it up. It is also not one of my favorites. Just one I grabbed

I did not even think maybe i will be able to do some travelling on the sea as i am always afraid of large body of water

I can understand the fear of being on large bodies of water. there are two reasons I know of

weather (conditions)
conditions of vessels and decision

everything would be on or along these two factors. avoid these bad conditions and all should be OK

Okay. maybe i will surely try

My wife is scared to death of the water. When she goes out with me we go very , very slow and never loose sight of land. And I am talking real close.
I do understand
So don’t push to hard
