Story: Matthew and the Dragons (Epilogue)
Epilogue
Several months passed after the defeat of the crimson dragon. Everyone, dragons, and humans are trying their best to rebuild their lives. This is despite the facts that both sides suffered great damage. This is especially true to the human sides, considering that they've lost thousands of lives. Not to mention the towns, and villages lost in the attack.
To compensate for this, the dragons give their support by helping rebuild said towns, and villages. They also provided to logs, and rocks needed for the reconstructions if destroyed buildings. They even gave precious stones, and minerals that could be sold for a large amount of money.
Thanks to this actions, the ordinary folks started to realized that the dragons are not actually as terrifying like they initially thought. These actions also helped strengthened the bonds between two races. The change of perspective by the populace about the dragons greatly pleased Matthew who worked tirelessly for dragon-human co-existence.
Speaking of Matthew, our hero had been extremely busy after the war. As the hero who defeated the crimson dragon, his schedule have been very tight. Due to his status as the hero, he needed to travel to different places to give speeches about peace, and co-existence between races.
Fortunately, he is always accompanied by his friends(?), or to he precised by Maria, and the girls. Boris also came along but only as bodyguard much to guy's chagrin. Unfortunately, there's nothing he could do as the girls assigned him for the task.
The girls are also gaining popularity not just for their looks but because they are always accompanying Matthew. Because they are always with Matthew, the populace, even the dragons considered them to be part of Matthew's "harem"—of which Matthew tried to deny vehemently. Unfortunately for our hero, this only angered the girls, forcing Matthew to just ignore the said rumor.
Matthew was also accompanied by a few great dragons, including the silver dragon. The great dragons are there to act as escorts, and bodyguards. More importantly, they act as proof that humans, and dragons could co-exit with one another.
Speaking of dragons, the black made a surprising decision that shocked everyone—he became the kingdom's protector! This is ironic if you consider that it was him who facilitated the attack on the kingdom in the first place. Thankfully, with the help of Matthew, and the effort he showed on subduing the crimson dragon, the citizens finally accepted the black dragon.
Of course the black dragon did not have just a change if heart, his personality also changed. For example he is calmer, and more taciturn now. These changes did not escape the notice of his rival the silver dragon, as the latter liked to tease the former—stating that the black dragon is emulating the red dragon a bit too much.
Matthew is not the only one promoting co-existence between races, the Draco-human Alliance or just the Alliance, a new alliance formed by the dragon council and, the leader of the former human alliance, are also putting great efforts to promote it. The said Alliance is the main driving force behind the current reconstruction. Thanks to this, the Alliance become extremely popular with the populace.
Dragon Island's Dragon Mansion.
Matthew finally completed his tour of the entire continent, and had returned to Dragon Island where Matthew us currently staying. The Dragon Island is where Matthew choosed to serve his self imposed exile. Yes, exile. After the war, Matthew exiled himself on Dragon Island. This is according to the agreement he had with the dragons. Actually the exile was not originally part of the agreement but Matthew insisted on including it. The reason is because of guilt.
As the inventor of the firebringer, and other highly destructive weaponry, Matthew felt extreme guilt. Therefore, he decided to exile himself so as to prevent the knowledge of those weapons from being misused by others. In reality though, Matthew wanted to have those knowledge erased from his memory like the others who knew of those weapons existence.
Unfortunately(?), Matthew was a receiver of the "World's Blessing", making him immune to harmful magics. Matthew was not aware that he received such a blessing, so when the golden dragon tried to erase the said knowledge, the magic failed. Only did they realized that Matthew's no longer a mere human. Due to this reason an exile is his only option.
"It's finally over..." Matthew thought out loud.
"No it's not!" An annoyed voice answered.
Looking at the person who spoke, Matthew broke into sweat.
"Err... I mean the conflict, Aria." Matthew said wryly.
"Hmph! I know that! But I'm referring about the three of us! Isn't it about time you decide?" Aria answered while glancing at Anna, and Maria.
"T-this... could you girls give me more time?" Matthew pleaded.
"NO!" The girls answer at the same time.
"You need to decide soon! Why are you so hesitant anyway?" The gentle Anna could not help but asked.
"Hmm... you know? I don't really care what you girls thought but it's been decided that his going to be my husband. Even my dad approved." Maria said nonchalantly
"That's just you deciding! We didn't approved of it!" Anna, and Aria yelled.
"H-how about we discuss this another time?" Matthew suggested.
Hearing his suggestion, the girls gave him one mean look, effectively silencing Matthew.
"Lad, why not just marry all three of them? If you do, no one would complain, you know?" The silver dragon who've been listening from the side finally spoke.
"It's not that simple! Well, actually, I'm just thinking that it's too soon..." Matthew exclaimed, and then helplessly sigh...
Suddenly a large shadow flew over there heads. Then a dark figure land before them.
"Oh? What's too early?" Asked the black dragon who just landed.
The silver dragon greets the newly arrived black dragon, and explained the situation.
"Hahahaha! What's this? The hero who defeated the crimson dragon, and saved the world cannot decide who's going to be his mate?" Guffawed the black dragon as he looked at Matthew with teasing eyes.
"Ugh! Stop teasing!" Matthew yelled with annoyance then stormed off towards the mansion.
"Wait! You're not going anywhere until you decided!" The girls scolded as they followed Matthew inside the mansion.
Moment later...
"Uwahh! Please let me off! We're civilized people! We should discuss things as such!" Matthew begged.
"No way!" The girls chorus.
The silver dragon couldn't help.but chuckled seeing Matthew's situation.
"It seemed that, this is the most difficult fight for the lad yet." The silver dragon exclaimed.
"Tsk! To think that he had such weakness. If I knew, I would have abduct hundreds of human girls, and send it to him as bride!" The black dragon lamented.
"...You're way of thinking is weird too," the silver dragon retorted.
The two great dragons bicker as Matthew's doing his best to postponed the talk of marriage. Of course few years down the line, Matthew did eventully marry the three girls but that's another story altogether...
And so that's the story of Matthew who surmounted all odds, and became a hero.
