Story: Matthew and the Dragons (Part XLVI)
Part XLVI
The dragons tries to dodge with the best of their abilities but not everyone's lucky enough to dodge, and was vaporized on the spot.
The surviving dragons then flew as far away as they could from the tower like thing the crimson dragon had transformed into.
After 10 kilometers, the golden dragon stopped flying, and looked at the tower with grim expression.
"He actually used it..." the golden dragon said in a pained voice as he remembered the great dragons who perished from the sudden attack.
Several great dragons approaches the golden dragon. The green-scaled dragon who is lucky enough to escape, can't help but asked.
"Lord golden dragon, what's happening, and what is THAT thing?" He asked in a terrified voice.
The golden dragon looked at the terrified great dragons, and couldn't helped but sigh.
"It's called the "dragon tower" a forbidden magic that only dragon kings can learn, and use." The golden dragon explained.
The great dragons looked at each others in confusion. They never heard of such spell before.
"It's undestandable that none of you heard of it. After all it's been eons since it was last used." He added. "I will explain in details after returning to the alliance headquarter."
The.golden dragon then leave with the other great dragons. But he also left two great dragons to guard.the perimeter, and stopped anyone, or anything from entering the 10 kilometer attack zone.
At the alliance headquarter, the golden dragon summoned the dragon council, the grand dragons, and the leader of the human alliance to an assembly. There he explained the result of the pursuit, and the current situation, including the crimson dragon turning himself into the dragon tower, and being sealed for a millenia to recover half of his power.
The dragon council, and the grand dragons had grave expression after hearing it. The leaders of the allaince on the otherhand looked bewildered.
"Wait, did you say that the crimson dragon is sealed within the tower for a millenia?" A member of the alliance asked.
"That is correct." The golden dragon answered plainly.
"That's great!" Another member of the alliance chimed in.
"Indeed!"
The great dragons frowned after seeing the reaction of the members of the alliance with the exception of the king, the other wearier leader, and even duke Bernard who felt that things are more complicated than it seemed.
"Enough! Why are you all celebrating liked you've already won the war? Do you not understand the gravity of the situation?" A council member growled angrily after seeing the some alliance members acting like clowns.
"Indeed! Don't think that because the crimson dragon is sealed within the dragon tower for a thousand years, you'll have a thousand years of peace. It doesn't work like that. You have no idea how powerful a dragon king is. Once he recovered 50% of his power, it would spell the end for your kind." The council member explained, hammering the truth to this muddle-headed alliance member.
The members of the alliance grows pale with terror after being enlightened. Though many could happen within a thousand years, a dragon king who could destroy a continent is definitely a tremendous threat, a thousand years later.
Seeing that the alliance finally understand the situation, the council member went on a preaching spree to the dismay of the other dragons, and the members of the human alliance.
When they thought that the preaching dragon will carry on its scolding, a messenger enters, and whispered something to the king. The king's eyes lit up, he then looked back at the humans, and dragons staring at him. With a cough, he announced, "the lad have arrived."
