Several days after the revelation from the silver dragon, the great dragons attack. Lead by the infuriated black dragon, they attacked several of the kingdom's cities and towns.

Fortunately, the kingdom had been prepared so casualties are minimal. Nonetheless, towns and villages were razed to the ground. Worse still, even their allies are also attacked. The reinforcement enroute to the kingdom suffered devastating blow from the surprise attack—forcing them to retreat and leaving the kingdom without reinforcement.

The king heard of the news but could only lament and sigh. He did not blame the his allies from retreating. If he were on their shoes, he would do the same. The only good news on this dilema is that the other great dragons are preoccupied attacking the alliance, and duke Bernard, for some unknown reason did not interfere after his devastating defeat at the fort, leaving the kingdom with some breathing space.

Unfortunately, aside from the silver dragon who is fighting against the other grest dragons, no one from the pro-human faction offered assistance. Therefore, the kingdom is pretty much on its own.

Yet despite.the odds, the morale of both the citizens and the soldiers are still high. This is due to the fact that they manage to shoot down a greater dragon using the their new weapon, the "exterminator".

Thanks to this new weapon, the great dragons are afraid to attack from a closer range, thus effectively reducing their attacking power. As a result, the battle was drawn to a stalemate.

Inside the war room, report after report are flooding in. The king looked at the stack of documents and letters on the huge table with a frown. He could already feel his head aching just looking at them. Ordering an attendants to read the content, the king listened. Yet his mind is obviously not on the reports but then he heard something that caught his attention.

"Read that again!" The king yelled with haste.

The attendant and the officials inside the room are startled after hearing the king yell and were left momentarily dumbfounded. Realizing his mistake the attendant quickly read the last report again. As he kept reading his eyes turn wide with amazement. As it turn out, the last report... no to be more precise it was a letter, was written by the young genius inventor Matthew!

According to the letter, there's a weapon that could fight the dragons better than the "exterminator"! The weapon was something he have thought of a long ago, but was hesitant to make it as it is too dangerous. Yet seeing the worsening situation, he decided to finally make it. "Please meet me at my workshop your majesty," was written at the end of the letter.

Anyone not in the know would surely burst in anger after reading the last line. Yet no one inside the war room said anything. That's because they could read the internal turmoil in every words. It seemed that the genius young man is truly struck with indecision. Considering his straightforward personality, this is definetly a rare thing for him. This also shows that the new weapon is not as simple as it seemed...

The king did not get angry nor did he hesitate. He quickly ordered a horse. Along with the royal guards and the king of assassin who is wearing a cloack, and is assigned to protect him. The group rode toward Matthew's workshop.
