I know, I know, this headline looks more like the beginning of an absurd, black humor B-rated movie, and yet, it's true. A crypto-enabled porn site called SpankChain (now that's an interesting name for a porn site, combining spanking with blockchain...) announced it retrieved the stolen funds in an attack which took place almost a week ago. They even tweeted about it:

If you look closely, they gave a link to the transaction of lost funds to a wallet they control, below the initial tweet.

The total amount stolen was 165 ETH ($32,000) and they got it back in full. They agreed to pay the hacker $5,000 as a "reward", plus 5.5 ETH he used as a seed capital for the attack. There was also another asset stolen, about 4,000 BOOTY tokens (the site native token), which were repurchased for $4,000.

All in all, you could say the smart contract was audited live for $9,000 and they found a breach which was eventually patched.

Now I wonder how they did this.

I imagine them talking on the phone with the attacker and saying something like: "You know, bro, you got our money, but we have you on video while watching hardcore porn. Honestly, do you think it's worth it? Do you think we can have a deal, maybe?..."

Or maybe the hacker was just a good guy, genuinely caring for the future of the porn business. In general, you know...

Whatever the reasons, I find this one of the most hilarious hacking news I ever read on a Friday afternoon.
