Arweave lets People regain control of Communication

Data plays an important role in the world since it is the core of communication. This puts those in control of data in important positions; this position can easily become double-edged as it can make those in control of data, a target.

Governments and influential organizations exercise their power and utilize censorship as a means to ensure communication goes as per their wants. Since communication relies on data, those that store it and share it are either at a constant threat or simply succumb to the demands of those. That’s the problem of data storage and sharing being centralized.

But what if there was no one party in control of data storage and sharing? What if this extremely important resource was in the hands of every?

Then the people would be free from censorship, manipulation, and misinformation. For this to happen, the public needs a way to be a stakeholder in the storage and flow of data. And blockchain technology can make this a possibility.

Arweave is using a blockchain-like blockweave to decentralize and democratize data storage and sharing. There will be no one person to target as the whole world could play a role in sustain the system. Anyone can become a miner and add value to the system by playing a role in data storage and sharing. Arweave even makes its miner work with each other as, uniting them to make sure data flow remains fast. By rewarding miners for sharing data and thereby making the mining process faster, the community that participates in mining to store and share data would be encouraged to share the data on the system with one another. And while you add value to the system as a miner, you can rest assured that you are not just burning away electricity. Arweave’s Proof of Access consensus if focused on making replications of data in the system. Your mining is creating something of value and you are also making sure data remains decentralized.

Arweave is bringing the world together to make sure censorship and control of data are a thing of the past. The technology has many features that give it the power to decentralize data on a global scale. Arweave uses blockshadows to make data sharing less burdensome on the system. Instead of data being shared in its original form, tiny blockshadows are shared across the system. These shadows take up a few kilobytes but have the ability to let anyone reconstruct the original block. This way Arweave is able to support high transactions per second without losing speed of data sharing.

Arweave can support the high demands of the data world while allowing everyone to be able to participate in it. With no one person or thing dictating how data is stored or shared, or what type of data is stored or shared, communication becomes in control of the people.
