Blast from the past. My thoughts in 2017. A dream of financial freedom.
I have been making vlogs for a while now on Steem and I've been blogging for even longer (since July 2016).
The first VLOG I ever uploaded for Steem was on the 12th of May 2017.
I sometimes go through some of them to hear what my thoughts were back then.
From the very beginning, I realized that Steem Power is key and that earning Steem will become more difficult in the future if you don't increase your own personal mining contract you have with the blockchain.
Either increase your mining potential by getting more Steempower or increase the value you add to the blockchain according to others. If you don't do this you will earn less.
And this turned out to be very true.
But I was also wrong at times. For some reason, I had an irrational fear about the 1 day/30day payout window changing to 7 days (I mention this fear in one of the videos).
I also talk happily about looking forward to communities and SMT's in 2017. Haha!
These videos are my own personal gold mine.
But the two I posted today, are one of my favorites.
It's me from exactly 2 years ago.
I'm sitting in my garden, I remember it well, asking myself if it would be possible to live off the blockchain.
I realized I was tired of my old life and wanted to change it.
I do recommend you watch them on 1.5x or even 2.0x speed. I sure used to take my time!
And then this is the follow-up video where I compare my Steem Account with a game (world of warcraft).
But instead of developing your in-game character on Steem you can develop yourself.
And two years later I still feel like that.
I hope you enjoy these visions from the past and have a better understanding of what Steem means to me and why I just got my 110 weekly author badge.

I’m in the same position like you were in the first video, thinking about working another 35 years a job I don’t really like.
I have been thinking about it lately, I believe STEEM at 2 dollars would be enough for me to seriously consider giving up on my job.
Of course I should move some liquid STEEM back in fiat for an eventual crash below 1$ again...
We really have a similar story Mark, I have been playing pc games for all my teenage years too, I still play some but thinking about it, I regret some of the money/time I wasted on games I didn’t even finished...that’s why I try to learn from your successes and mistakes, a real inspiration man!
By the way now that I think about it, I just got my first weekly badge! 🎉🎉🎉 Hope I can get to the monthly but seems way harder to post every day for 30 days straight 😂
That's what I did too. In the good days, I moved funds into FIAT and kept it there. It's a reserve. I don't use it for fun stuff (well I did for a while until I realized how bad the bear hit).
It saved me. The bear trend was much worse and longer than I could have possibly imagined and we are still in it.
For me, it's all about the flow of cash. When the flow gets less I spend less. Even though I have savings.
I also still play from time to time. But I can't do it anymore for hours on end. I don't know why I simply lose the attention and concentration and will to play after a few hours.

Interesting to see. You got into cryptocurrency at a good time, I was a few months later and it made a big difference. Two years ago, I still didn't take cryptocurrency seriously. I had first read about Bitcoin when it was $1. I bid on a miner and lost out on Ebay when Bitcoin was around $100. I didn't think about buying any. When it got to $1000, I thought I was too late. Two years ago, I was using the Bitwalking app, that turned out to be a waste of time. I didn't look at cryptocurrency seriously until watching "Deep Web" in late August 2017. That's when I realized what it was all about and found steemit. Steem was over $1, so its been good buying at a lower price than when I first found it.
I Think within 2-3 Years we will look back on these times and Laugh Our Rich BUTTS Off !

That is pretty interesting to see what your thoughts were back then having followed you for a while now. I am still really looking forward to SMT's and I am hoping we can see them working sooner rather than later. Steem Engine is already an amazing step in that direction.

I liked the fact that you talked about steem reach for $4 , earning $800 and $3200 total in month for living expense. Your vision was clear even on the day 1 and its impressive. Great video. thanks for sharing.

I think revolution is already on in the field of blockchain and STEEM is playing a good role as a community together . Definatly we will see some good stuff and development and money in STEEM in next coming years.

Yeah the action house run on the steem blockchain. Instead of gold steem no wow coin just steem. I would be killing for my rent and bills. 🤣😂 my bot would be in crypto also but it takes millions to make such a game.

Yeah...
I had it with bitconnect I really believed the story. Many of us.. my whole world collapsed because I don't want this anymore. I thought just a few more months after that I have 10k a month I will continue help others with it. Build better video's help people who are in financial problems. Build my aquaponics system and other green systems. It all collapsed I lost a lot.
Financial freedom would be nice.
If I only would win the lottery tonight.
I would invest a lot in steem I mean 18 percent a year.... I do a full powerup on my posts now also. I don't know if that is wise .
