Vlog 412: Two aspects about the Steem blockchain that are under-appreciated. No ICO + No SPAM yet free transactions.
There are two things about the Steem Blockchain that I talk about today that are very underappreciated.
1. STEEM never had an ICO.
Unlike many blockchain projects, STEEM never had an ICO (initial coin offering). Which means when regulators eventually will start to dig into ICO practices that STEEM can never be touched for the simple reason that we never had one. It gives me and it should give you tremendous peace of mind about your STEEM investment.
2. STEEM solved the SPAM problem while still maintaining free transactions.
I was reading an article the other day that claimed that free transactions are bad because the network will be flooded with SPAM transactions. They are right, free transactions do have that downside, but they clearly didn't know that Steem already solved this with HF20 and the Resource Credit system.

The one thing Steem needs is massive marketing in my opinion. Most crypto peeps still think steem is just a blogging platform. Looking forward to the future however 😀

HF20 saw the RCs come in, 19 was the removal of curve and addition of delegations (before someone complains) :D
There are a lot of things that are underappreciated here that has allowed for people to participate without needing to pay to get in.

You are very correct, these two things I never knew. Well done.
I can attest to some of that being true. I was looking at my EOS wallet the other day and it was surprising the number of transactions that are taking place in my wallet. There are a bunch of messages and things like that. Of course EOS kind of takes care of that by requiring you to have EOS staked to preform actions on the blockchain like STEEM, but there was still more spam than I expected.
Are you going to sign up for voice.com to give it a try or the KYC is a deal breaker for you?
....not sure how premined stake -then inflation taken by initial miners through 'voting' , will go down though......there's a name for it, but i won't mention it here...
