Facebook is asking new users to give their email password!

in #facebook5 years ago (edited)

A twitter influencer recently revealed that Facebook is asking new users to provide their email password for verifying their email. He stated in a tweet:

Hey @facebook, demanding the secret password of the personal email accounts of your users for verification, or any other kind of use, is a HORRIBLE idea from an #infosec point of view. By going down that road, you're practically fishing for passwords you are not supposed to know!

This new verification system didn't give users any other options to verify their email. In other words, Facebook accounts now require you to give your email password! That's a blatant disrespect to user privacy.
