1. Giant from Cardiff

The community around Cardiff's farming region of New York was overwhelmed by the discovery of a petrified corpse in October 1869. The corpse was 10 feet tall which was said to be the greatest geological discovery of the century.

But less than a year later the discovery of the body was successfully revealed as a hoax. Cardiff giant was just a statue made of gypsum that is made to resemble a human body but is made as high as 10 feet. According to the results of the investigation, the stone boulder was deliberately made George Hull and then buried in farmland in Cardiff to be found.

2. The Chess Machine "The Turk"

3. Redheffer Machine

In 1813, an American inventor named Charles Redheffer introduced his invention engine that can move continuously without the aid of certain tools. This machine was first introduced in Philadelphia and was enough to make the public's enthusiasm at the time. He even offered his findings to the government.

But an engineer named Robert Fulton doubted Redheffer's claims on the so-called engines could move immutable. From the results of the search is known there is an old man who was in the attic and twisted a stick for the machine can continue to work.

4. Piltdown Man

On December 18, 1912, two amateur archaeologists named Charles Dawson and Smih Woodward claimed their greatest discoveries at the U.K Geological Society. These two archaeologists then presented their findings in the form of bones of head, teeth and jaws they managed to gain from a dig in Pildown, Sussex, England.

But after 40 years passed the fact that the bones of the head, jaw and teeth were not originated from the ancient human species. The bones after being studied are only hundreds of years old and they come from the jawbone of orangutans, the teeth of hippopotamus and elephant.

5. Cottingley Fairy

The Cottingley's may be the most admired classical hoax example of the 20th century. The Cottingley Fair is a collection of photos taken by two daughters named Elsie Wright and his cousin Frances.

A prominent character and writer, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle is so obsessed and loves the photos of these children's shots. As soon as he liked Conan Doyle on the photographs he wrote a letter he wrote straight to Elsie Wright on June 30, 1920.
