Lime and Basil Restaurant
Today is another episode of family gathering or a family lunch out because, aside from celebrating Mother's Day in advance, we are also celebrating my parents' 32nd Anniversary (May 11th). So for today's lunch out we headed to this hidden gem near Tagaytay City and made a reservation yesterday for today's lunch. Without further ado, let me start sharing about it...
LIME AND BASIL RESTAURANT
Lime and Basil is a Thai restaurant. Obviously they would offer Thai food, but as we look through the menu (link below), it looks like it is a combination of Asian food mostly Filipino but with a Thai twist.
As we were checking the menu, they served us this fish chips as appetizers while waiting for our food. And from this appetizer, we were already impressed because of its sauce. It's very Thai. The flavor was like a fish sauce with lime and having a bit of spiciness.
For the real appetizer, we ordered their best seller which is the Fresh Spring Rolls. I must say that, of all the spring rolls I've tasted, this is far the best. All the ingredients inside are delicious. It is composed of cabbage, carrots, lettuce, tofu, and bean sprouts. Matching it with a Thai sweet and sour sauce makes it more flavorful!
Next food served was the Tom Yum Goong. It's basically just a sour soup with shrimp. Then you can add a spicy condiment to have a spicy flavor to the soup.
Another appetizer that we ordered was the Lime and Basil Salad. It is composed of lettuce, fried egg, basil, peanuts and tamarind dressing. It was my first time to try the tamarind dressing and it compliments well along with the peanut and the rest of the veggies included in the salad.
Of course, as a Filipino, rice wouldn't be missed every meal so we ordered the Kao Pad Sod Ruamit which is a mixed vegetable rice. The rice is already good for six people although my brother and my mother didn't really eat much rice.
(As I write this down, I can remember how hard for us to pronounce the names of the food. Lol. And also we had to check it in the web to see what the food looks like before ordering it. Haha!)
Going back, we also ordered a stir fried mixed vegetable called Pad Pak Ruamit. I personally liked it!
Our lunch wouldn't be considered as a Thai experience if we don't order (of course) Pad Thai! It's the usual Pad Thai with chicken and shrimp. It also has a tamarind sauce which was good and I must say that it's close to the authentic Pad Thai!
Lastly, our main dishes... we had two but I wasn't able to take a photo of the other one which was the Crispy Tilapia. It's was very different because of its crispiness and adding the tamarind sauce and basil above it compliments the crispy cooked Tilapia. The other one was Crispy Pata with Curry sauce or called Kaeng Deng Kha Moo. It's very crispy too especially the skin! Adding the curry sauce makes it more delicious. Although I wasn't able to eat that much of it because I was already full of all the food that we ordered.
All the food we ordered were must try and recommended. That's why we were impressed with the restaurant. Although our bill was P3700, Lol (It's kind of pricey) based on our experience it's not really expensive for all the food that we ordered. We even had take outs too after we finished eating because we cannot finish everything that we ordered.
Also we ordered another set of Fresh Spring Rolls for to-go because it was our best choice of food among all and we want another set for dinner.
Anyway, look how full we were after eating... Lol.
For the place and interiors, look how environment friendly it is...
They also have a garden area...
As far as I know, reservation is recommended so they can accomodate you when you visit them.
Again, HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO MY PARENTS!

Expensive as it is, it is the bonding together that makes the date special. Family time is quality time. Those dishes look appetizing. I have never seen anything like it even when we visited Thailand. It must have been the Filipino touch put into it.
Yup. I agree. Been to Thailand twice but I haven’t seen most of these foods. Only the Pad Thai and the Tom Yum Goong.
Happy mother's day and anniversary to your mama and papa!.. grabe nagutom ako sa foods.. i little pricey nga noh but worth it namn kasi masarap..nanotice ko mahilig ang thai sa veggies no?
Thank you. Yup, although worth the price din sya comparing to other pricey restos. Yes and may sarili din silang specific na taste in terms of spices.
