Our daughter wears the Uniforms of our dream Professions
Being a police officer has been my dream growing up. Running after criminals with gun on one hand and a handcuff on the other has been the contents of my wild imaginations.This was not realized because my mom is an overprotective mother. She does not hate policemen but she does not want her children to join the police force. Her reason is, you have no choice if you are one of them. If you are a good policeman, you will be against police scalawags. If you also become a scalawag yourself, then it is the people who pays your salary you'll be against with. Not wanting to hurt my mother's feeling, I took up Electronics Engineering. The 5 years studying ECE has been very hard for me for it was not what I want in the first place.My passion to be a policeman has not ceased.I was able to finish ECE but was not able to take the board exams. I passed the Civil Service Eligibility though.
I'm closer to my dream. Next time, I'll take the NAPOLCOM exam.
My wife wanted to be a nurse but due to financial scarcity, ends up to be a public school teacher. Growing up, Mae dreams to be a nurse to help sick people. But, her parents were unable to send her to a nursing school because Nursing was an expensive course during our days. Overcame by her desire to finish a degree, she ends up taking scholarship in one of the best schools for teachers in the Philippines, Cebu Normal University. Months after graduation she took the Licensure Exams for Teachers and with God's grace was able to nail it. Now, she is teaching children in our place.
I want my daughter to be a doctor someday. But, if that is not what she wants, then I will still continue to support her all the way. As long as I can see her happy with what she decides, then I will also be happy for her.

Yup, deep down inside us, as parents we always hope that our little ones can continue our dreams. But as what you have said at your ending, it still depend on what our little ones like and then support them to achieve their dream. 😉
