Goodbye Foster Care Homes - A Song Parody Proactive - Enjoy with Troy!

In humbleness I offer a song parody. 'Goodbye Foster Care Homes' is a song parody of the Elton John song, 'Goodbye Yellow Brick Road.' The song parody offers a proactive and positive approach to leaving the enslavement of foster care. This may be thought of as receiving counseling and healing or literally escaping the home. I also address the parallels of this parody to the original writing by Elton John.

Freedom from foster care

Children are stolen from their parents by the CPS system. They are sold and purchased and placed in hell hole foster families who cannot show the same love and commitment they had. Sadly our government chains them to this pain and misery for life. The voiceless and helpless are auctioned like cattle to the slaughter. Their lives are bridled and bound as they suffer this sinful enslavement.

It'll take some folks who love family and children
To battle and defeat its reign

It is up to us to wake up and see. It is up to us to overcome apathy and evil. It is up to us to care. Good folks @familyprotection are doing just that. They are protecting children and families who are haunted and hunted by the CPS foster care. They are defending the rights and dreams of parents and boys and girls. They are protecting innocence with love. Consider joining them in their worthy cause together in family, freedom, truth and justice

Goodbye Yellow Brick Road parallels.

Common threads exist between the meaning of Elton John's song, the Wizard of Oz and the foster care experience as expressed in this parody. First Dorothy decided she wanted to go back home to her farm in Kansas where her family was. She did not want to be in OZ and regretted following the yellow brick road. She was able to return to Kansas. Elton longed to return to his life on the farm and escape the pressures of music fame. He regretted following the yellow brick road of fame and fortune. Unfortunately he could not return home to his prior life.

Foster Care Parallel

In the song parody the foster child wants to escape the new life of enslavement and pain. A choice is made to go back to what is real...his former life with the parents who showed goodness and love. Perhaps the child ran away to home. Perhaps another perspective would be working through your past through psychological counseling and healing. Thinking of Elton's original lyrics, as long as the CPS foster homes exist, children will be replaced as in

Maybe you'll get a replacement
There' plenty like me to b found

All three (Dorothy, Elton and the parody) are wake up calls to what is real and truly important. The parody asks both the public to wake up to the foster care theft as well as this person in the song to take action and responsibility to escape.

On a historical side note.

For those interested in knowing. The Wizard of OZ written in 1903 was a children's story with a second meaning representing the election of 1896. The scarecrow represented the farmer, the tin man was the steel industry, the cowardly lion was William Jennings Byran (1860- 1925). The yellow brick road was the gold industry, and Oz represented the president. Of course the road led to Washington.

The Videos

I offer three videos to accompany the song parody. The first is a 1973 live version of the song. This is the traditional song as we all remember. The second video is an updated 2012 live performance of Elton John the Ukraine. Nicely done with several interesting piano chords. However Elton chose not to attempt the high notes. I have heard him in concert twice through the years and remember he avoided those notes then as well. The final video is a cover done by Sara Bareiles in Atlanta in 2013. I am including her performance as it offer a contrasting fresh interpretation. The haunting same notes in the first verse and her use of minimalism drive home an emotion more in tune with the emptiness found in the foster care experience. Regardless which video you choose, I hope the parodied words speak to your heart.

Now enjoy the song parody and music and be sure to support @familyprotection.

Goodbye Foster Care Homes

When are you gonna wake up?
When are you going to see?
The children stolen in harm
In CPS pain and apathy
You know this can't go on forever
You will not have chains on me
I'm not indentured or for sale to purchase
For boys and girls were born to be free.

So goodbye foster care homes
Where the filth of government steals
You can't plant me in your hell hole
I'm going back to what's real
Back to my parents who loved me so good.
I will not be hunted or sold.
Oh I've finally decided my future lies
Beyond the foster care homes.

What do you think we can do then?
To end this misery and pain?
It'll take some folks who love family and children
To battle and defeat its reign
Evil is sinful enslavement
When lives are bridled and bound
Auctioned like cattle for slaughter
voiceless and helpless where tears have no sound.

So goodbye foster care homes
Where the filth of government steals
You can't plant me in your hell hole
I'm going back to what's real
Back to my parents who loved me so good.
I will not be hunted or sold.
Oh I've finally decided my future lies
Beyond the foster care homes.
