Texas CPS lets their Texas Ranger "fundraiser" (leader) leave.

This is not your typical "news" article. There is so much NOT being said about this situation in comparison to what they are saying that it is more like a packaged and crafted official announcement than any kind of "news."

Admittedly, the former Texas Ranger, Hank Whitman, had no real business being in charge of perhaps the nation's most troubled "child protective" "services" (CPS...or DFPS as it is known in Texas) agency to begin with. The "article" makes it clear that the "tough guy" knows nothing about the issues and problems facing Texas families and that he was basically in this position in the first place, because liberal supporters of the CPS milieu wanted a tough salesman for getting themselves more money out of the State Legislature.

While Whitman was in charge, Texas went through one of the worst series of CPS abuses and failures any state has ever seen, and I have chronicled many of those in these pages. While the "article" makes no mention at all as to why Whitman is out, it's pretty clear about what his only real role was to begin with.

The article is sub-titled: "He championed staff pay raises in the three years he spent at the helm of the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services."

Need we really say more? That is the only reason this phony was put in place, and that was the only thing he really did during his tenure...i.e. squeeze even more money out of the people of Texas for already overpaid bureaucrats in order to be "served" up even more horrible abuse from an out-of-control bureaucracy that did so poorly at their REAL JOB during his reign that they were censured by at least two federal judges during that time.

Here is a typical excerpt from this useless blathering that now, apparently, passes as "news" in Texas:

"Whitman will perhaps best be remembered as an outsider with little experience in social services who shepherded the child welfare agency through a period of crisis by advocating fiercely at the Texas Capitol for pay raises for his frontline staff.

'We strengthened investigations by building expertise, improving processes and streamlining management,' he said in the announcement video. 'We worked for well deserved pay raises for program staff to help reduce turnover and caseloads. And we made significant progress on many other fronts'.”

No wonder he chose to make an impersonal "video announcement" out of the limelight so no one could challenge his assertions.

The truth is everything just got worse in Texas CPS during his time in charge, and if it weren't for those judges stepping in (as covered here previously) there would have been ZERO changes of any merit AT ALL during the past three years.

So, while the politicians continue to pat themselves on the back for their failures and poor decisions, the people of Texas are left to wonder when that knock in the middle of the night will happen to them and their family, and what new "face" without any experience in family protection will be leading the pursuing agency when that happens.

Here is how RINO Governor Greg Abbott summarized the retirement of his fund raiser:

"'Commissioner Whitman’s long-standing commitment to putting the needs of children and families first helped create a safer future for Texas,' Abbott said in a prepared statement. 'Because of his leadership, DFPS is left better than he found it, and I extend my sincerest gratitude for his decades of dedicated service to the state of Texas.'

Whitman’s appointment was scheduled to end in September. In the video, he framed his departure as a retirement and did not specify a next career move. Abbott is expected to appoint a successor."

Maybe Abbott can concentrate next on hiring someone who, rather than massively rewarding failure by procuring even more money for proven incompetence, will actually DO SOMETHING to clean up the multiple abuses, neglect of mission, the shunning of due process and the rights of parents, and insist that Texas DFPS at least make some effort to actually help the few children that are actually in danger of abuse from someone other than the agency itself.

I, for one, will not be holding my breath.

Sort:

Sad truth and it doesn't help the rep of the Texas Rangers.

That's for sure.

The oldtimers that have retired out are probably disgusted how the TRs are being used for politics.

yes sir, they have to be totally disgusted! It reflects bad on all of Texas.
