Never Forget: Alexandria Hill

in #familyprotection6 years ago (edited)

Hello.

I would like to start off by mentioning again the statistics I discovered concerning juvenile death in foster care. The largest private foster care provider, MENTOR, was investigated by the Senate Finance Committee in a rare bipartisan effort. They determined:

86 children died within a ten year span while they were supposedly being cared for by MENTOR's foster parents.

You may think maybe they died of natural causes, illness, maybe cancer, but no. 70% of those children died unexpectedly.

Only 13 deaths were investigated by the agency.

It was noted that children in American foster care die at a 42% higher rate than the rest of our youth.

These statistics suggest the opposite of what we see in the news, where abusive parents are heavily reported on. Too often, foster care children die quietly, with little to no coverage, and a lot of cover-up.

I decided to start a series that recollects the stories of some of the vulnerable and precious lives that were cut too short because of the broken system that claims to protect children in crisis. My first installment was Never forget: Logan Marr.

Today I remember Alexandria (Alex) Hill.

She was only 2 years old. She loved kitties and the color purple, and she was in foster care for only 9 months before she was murdered. Her parent's names were Mary and Joshua. CPS was called on the parents, and the only specific reason I could find as a cause for an investigation was that Joshua almost dropped Alex down the stairs. That's right. He almost dropped her.

During the investigation Joshua admitted to smoking pot at night after Alex went to bed. Mary was epileptic, and had frequent seizures. Those were the only concrete faults I could find, along with being accused of having "limited parenting abilities."

Alex's parents took issue with her first foster home after seeing bruises on their child, and she was moved to a different one, where she was placed with Sherill Small and her husband, Clemon.

I did some digging, and I haven't been able to uncover anything about her stay at this home, aside from what happened on the day of her death.

Sherill's sister, Donna, visited that day. When Donna walked into the darkened living room, Alexandria stood quietly, facing the wall. Alex turned around to say hello, but Sherill demanded that Alex continue to face the wall and be quiet. She expressed to her sister how naughty Alex had been, because she did horrible things like wake up early. Alex also had the audacity to help herself to food. During Donna's 2 hour visit, Alexandria was required to stand there and face the wall the entire time.

Later that evening, Clemon left the home. After only 15 minutes alone together, Sherill called 911. The first responder arrived to find the lifeless toddler laying on the floor. Even though CPR training is required for foster parents, it had not been administered. He noticed that the couple was "very calm."

2 1/2 hours after Sherill called 911, Joshua got the call about his daughter. When he arrived at the hospital, he found Alex hooked up to a ventilator, as well as tubes coming out of her, and a brace on her neck. He asked the doctor if there was any chance of survival, and the doctor responded, "No. There is too much damage inside her." Alex was kept on life support until both parents had a chance to say goodbye.

Bruises were found in various places on her body. An autopsy revealed multiple blunt force injuries to her head, subdural hemorrhaging, subarachnoid hemorrhaging, and retinal hemorrhaging in both eyes. There were also 2 tears in her liver, and 1/3 of her blood pooled into her abdomen.

Sherill tried to explain it away by saying that all the injuries were the result of an accident that happened while they were playing. Fortunately, nobody believed her pathetic lie, and she was sentenced to life in prison.

When horrific crimes like this happen, some people may ask, "Could this have been prevented?" "Were there any warning signs?"

Well the answer to the first stupid question is YES! THIS ALL COULD'VE BEEN AVOIDED HAD CPS NOT NEEDLESSLY REMOVED A CHILD. A CHILD WHO WASN'T EVEN BEING ABUSED MIGHT I ADD!

The answer to the second question is yes, there were indicators that the couple shouldn't have been fostering children at all. Sherill was a foster child herself who got in trouble all the time, and was described as a "wild street kid" in her past. She had also contacted the agency, telling them that she was at her wits end and too overwhelmed. Clemon had a drug record and had been addicted to crack.

Red flag much??

By the way, the agency knew all of this, and still employed them to provide foster care.

May Alexandria always stay in our hearts. Stand with me, and tell the world that these innocent victims will never be forgotten.

Consider supporting @familyprotection. They are endeavoring to spread the word about the injustices taking place against loving families because of so called "child protection services." They also support families who are victims of these organizations.

"Child Protection Agencies" are taking children away from their loving families.
THESE FAMILIES NEED PROTECTING.

It breaks me up just reading this stuff and hearing about our situation. So uncalled for. Children are precious and a gift not to be mistreated or abused. Thank God at least in Heaven they are loved. As crappy CPS needs to be put away once and for all. Thanks my dear friend for sharing again I I'm very sad and teary-eyed to read this. Blessings @snowpea

Thanks for your support @enjoywithtroy. It's hard to learn about these atrocities. Honestly, I'm not sure how many of these stories I'll be able to handle researching and posting. Might just be a handful lol.

This story is heartbreaking! Thank you for bringing it to the forefront of the community. It is only when more people speak out changes may take place in the ridiculous flawed system that is in place! Rest in peace baby girl, a life taken far too soon that could have been prevented.

I'm glad you appreciated it. It was hard to write.

This is monsterous!
I recently discovered that cannabis is classed as a schedule 1 drug. This is ridiculous and quite likely the excuse used for removing children from the care of anyone using it. When you think that the child was then removed to a household where a recovering user of crack cocaine (a schedule 2 drug) would potentially be caring for her, the mind just boggles!

When confronted, officials in the state of Texas (where this happened), said, "in our state, marijuana use in parents is determined to contradict the child's best interest." Or some BS like that. I don't know how social workers can live with themselves. Do they really think it's wrong, or do they just use it as an excuse to remove children?

Sure it is! Butt crack user in a foster parent doesn't contradict it at all! Who wants chilled out, laidback parents.

It's possible that they have been brainwashed into thinking it terrible for the child. I think they really believe they are doing the right thing, but they won't be people who are variable of thinking for themselves.

What an avoidable tragedy. So so sad...

So unbelieveably sad. And anger sets in with these people who did this to such an innocent creaturte.

I truly believe God will make it right to the detriment of these monsters. I put them in the same Category as Serial Killers. Gacy, Bundy, Dahmer, and the Smalls right there with them ( and maybe include some of the people in CPS who should have not put this poor child in such a situation like this) :(

It truly is an outrage, and you're right. They are no better than serial killers. Thank you for your comment.
