Manaia : Gramar and the Men of the West

Gramar is a large island with a modest population of around 300,000 people, and the only city in Manaia that technically does not lie within any of the seven continents.

The Men of the West, who are said to be responsible for the Great Siphoning and for popularising the Anglian language which is now the prevailing mode of speech in several continents, are said to have emigrated inland from Gramar. They were described as tall men of redhair, a feature believed to have once been exclusive to the location.

Modern day Gramar is a relatively quiet place, home to a community of miners and farmers, but ancient Gramar was said to be the seat of power and capital of Manaia during the Kanzashi dynasty - 1200 B.0 - 945 B.0.

Governance in Gramar is rather unique in contrast to the rest of the world, with a democratic voting system being utilised to determine its leaders. The current leader of Gramar is Governor Davidson, believed by some, though not confirmed, to be a distant cousin of the Magna. However, there is an election coming soon.

Many of the the greatest feats of engineering and technology have been conceived in the minds of Gramarians. Gramar gave to Manaia the wheel, the pen, the compass and sunseeker, and much more.

The people of Gramar are not known for being hospitable to outsiders.
