Manaia : The City of Peresi
With an estimated 11 million inhabitants, Peresi is the most populated city in both the continent of Euchao and Manaia as a whole.
Much like the new capital, Shipeva, the ex capital Peresi exemplifies the rich and poor dichotomy to plague the central continent. One side of the river is inhabited by the exceedingly wealthy, while the other is a very large slum.
Peresi is one of the most ancient cities in Manaia, and is home to a number of architectural marvels including the Peresi Palace, the Archanium and the Tilted Towers.
Currently, the great and ancient Peresi Palace is occupied by Frederic Francis Fox, firstborn son of Magna Luxlow II, the ruler of Euchao and High Priest of the Sobanite religion. Since his arrival, the amount of Peresians exiled to the prison island of Zarakash per week has quadrupled.
With the slums reaching maximum capacity some decades ago, the lowling population of Peresi has spilled out onto the sea, where over a hundred thousand now live in make-shift houseboats anchored to the shoreline.
Some four hundred theatre houses are spread out throughout Peresi, many of which run through the night with shadow shows, a masterful type of stage play which can be found nowhere else in Manaia.
Peresi is also home to the largest market in Manaia.
The people of Peresi tend to make their gold and silver mostly through fishing, farming, working at the markets and ports, in the theatre houses or in underground gauntlets.
Magic is forbidden in accordance with the Libra in Peresi, though only a minority of the population still believe in it. There are rumours of a clandestine magical order operating in the city.
