Tissue Culturing To Maximize Crop Yield..

It been ages of mankind existence on Earth, previously, the only work for every individual was farming being it in crop plants, farm animal production and fishing. Crafts men of knowledge helped developed various techniques to practice farming.
That was back in the days perhaps, food was not a problem to worry about.

Let's look at the present day farmer in farming.

Human beings are evolving every now and then, civilization taking place all over. New ideas popping up everyday as to how to solve issues in farming Must we still rely on the old techniques to farm? A household daily consumption of food to the number of farmers in the country should even open up doors for people to embrace the modern technologies of Agriculture.

What is Tissue culturing?

Tissue Culturing is the process of taking the healthy part of a plant to be propagated given all necessary conditions . Especially plants that do not produce seeds.
For example the banana or plantain bears no seed but the suckers are used in propagation, but in an ever growing population of a country millions of mouth needs to be fed and this is where adopting a modern technology must come into action.

Still using the banana suckers. If an ordinary farmer wants to propagate the banana or the plantain he only digs out the young plant by the mother plant and then transplant it elsewhere, in this case the farmer gets to propagate just two or maximum four bananas for the next farming season.

But with tissue culturing, a biotechnologist gets one sucker of a banana and he can produce millions of banana crops within the next farming season.
Can't this save people from hunger within the country and some other neighboring countries too where farming on lands is not suitable due to adverse weather conditions resulting from climate change.

Ghana can be a hub of food nation if proper consideration is given to Agricultural biotechnology.
We don't even have to import food from other countries we should rather export because Ghana is much blessed with resources. But the game of the time determines who rules "Politics"

So someone may ask is there any side effects since chemicals are being used.

Can you tell a chemical which has no natural ingredients in its composition.
According to researchers before one can bring a product onto the market it has to be well scrutinized with caution in relating to human consumption protection and environmental safty.

What are the benefits of Tissue Culturing?

There are numerous advantages of tissue culturing over the traditional farming techniques.

1. Exact copies of plants with desired characteristics can be duplicated.

2. It aids in economical usage of lands since seedlings propagation can be done using a small space in the lab whiles production still goes on.

3. Tissue culturing over the years has reduced the number of disease in Crop cultivation.

4. Seedless plants can be propagated with ease.

To everything there is a sacrifice as nothing is free because definitely there must be an opportunity cost...

Aside it's importance to sustain an economic growth
Tissue Culturing is capital intensive and require much Labour but it's rewarding.

If it must be done, it must be done well. Agriculture feeds the world.
