Tips to prevent and treat cholera that attacks chickens
In the world of chicken farming, we recognize several diseases that attack chickens. One of them is green defecation (cholera).
The following are the characteristics of chickens affected by cholera:
Exit fluid from the nose and mouth
The comb is blackish blue
Decreased appetite
Swelling can occur in the knee joint so that the chicken can experience paralysis
If complications occur with snot or corisa, the chicken's face can swell
Then, what causes chickens to get cholera attacks? Cholera in chickens is caused by infection with the Pasteurella Multocida gram (-) bacteria, not viruses. These bacteria are transmitted through direct contact which can be through contact between poultry, feces, drinking water, cages and other livestock equipment. This bacterium develops quickly at high humidity (above 80%). The bacteria will infect the body's tissues through the respiratory tract and through the conjunctiva or wound.
As for how to prevent cholera in our chickens as follows:
Regularly clean the cage using disinfectant
Diligently wash and clean livestock equipment with disinfectant
Providing heating lights, especially in the rainy season for chicks and juvenile chickens.
Provide a multivitamin intake in chicken to increase the chicken's resistance to disease
Use boiled water (boiled) in poultry drinking water and if necessary add herbal ingredients such as turmeric powder and others
Vaccinate from the beginning (but this requires a lot of money) but, if you are a chicken businessman, you must do this
Maintain air vents to maintain air circulation and dryness of the poultry cage, because if the cage is moist it will bring bacteria
However, if the chicken has already been attacked by cholera, what must be done is to treat it by giving antibiotics. I myself use Trimezyn which has proven effective in treating cholera in chickens. I gave it for 4-5 days in a row.
Dosage of administration is also quite easy, just 1 tablet for adult chicken and half a tablet for chicks, morning and evening.
While in the case of prevention of other diseases, continue to give chickens with food that is filled with nutritional intake. For healthy chicken, optimal growth and resistance to disease. I hope this article will be useful, regards..
Thanks for sharing this tips with us, we are sure it would be of great value to farmer's world wide.
