The duck is a species of aquatic bird that belongs to the family Anatidae, it is very beautiful, simple and pleasant, ideal to raise it at home and have it as a pet. There are wild and domestic ducks that live in both water and land. Currently the ducks are raised on farms for consumption and marketing.

Therapeutic Programs with Ducks

Children love them because they are very tender, so much so that nowadays these animals are part of programs for therapeutic purposes for children with autism and Down syndrome, generating physical, psychological and social benefits, which improves their relationship with humans and children. your quality of life.

Ducks Reproduction

When the female is stepped on by the duck, she immediately begins to build her nest with branches, leaves and feathers that provide the proper safety and temperature for the eggs. Then the paw puts an egg daily until it reaches 8 eggs approximately, which will be incubated for a period ranging between 25 and 30 days. Afterwards, each duck breaks the shell with his beak until he gets out, from the first day of life they try to swim and procure food on their own. The life of a duck goes from 6 to 10 years.

Physical Structure of the Ducks

The front legs are well adapted to use water at minimum energy, without sinking into the water because they have the ability to maintain the buoyancy, but they make them walk awkwardly. They have two large wings and can also fly.

Its beak is orange or yellowish, wider at the tip than at the base, it serves to filter the water, retaining the food substances, facilitating the hunting activity of small fish. They also use it to obtain a sebaceous gland located near the tail that produces oily secretion with which it impregnates all superficial feathers until it forms an impermeable barrier. In the upper part of the peak there are small holes that serve to breathe and caw.

Where the Ducks Live

In relation to the habitat, the ducks live in quiet places where they have easy access to water, we can findthem in fresh waters such as ponds, lagoons, lakes, among others. When they are wild ducks they feed on what the environment offers them, mainly seeds, plants, insects, algae, fish and even in many cases they eat sand grit to be able to grind the food more easily, while when they are domestic ducks they eaten cereals of the type of oats, corn, even rice grain, which provide good nutrition and are found in any establishment.
