HOW TO PLANT LEMON AT HOME IN MACETA

Hello friend of the farm, I am going to talk about how we can plant a lemon tree from the germinated seed. Lemon is one of the most valued citrus fruits in the world, both for its uses in gastronomy and for its medicinal properties.
Its delicious acid taste and high nutrient content make it an ideal food for many recipes and all food plans. Citrus fruits like lemon provide us with multiple properties for health and the great advantage of being able to grow them even in the garden of our house.
Starting our lemon tree from the seed can give us a very rewarding experience even though it may take between 3 and 6 years to bear fruit.
In addition, the fruits that can give us long term are fresher, better quality and free of all types of chemicals.
It is very important that you get an organic lemon, since non-organic lemon seeds can be sterile.
All kinds of organic lemon seed will work for you, but in case you have space or climate limitations, we recommend you to get a specific variety called Lemon Meyer.
This type of lemon is smaller and is usually used for ornamental purposes, which is why it can be planted in pots for interiors.

SOURCE

One of its great advantages is that it is grown very easily, and is available in almost all seasons of the year.
In fact, from your seed we can all germinate your plant if we have enough space in the garden.
The lemon trees bloom outdoors, especially if they are in regions whose climate is warm and sunny most of the time.
The care of the plant is quite simple and you do not need to be a professional in gardening to receive the fruits when you have completed the proper cycle.
The lemon seeds can be grown in a pot and then transferred to the garden soil.

SOURCE

POTS
If you do not want to plant the seed directly in the garden, get a pot with small holes for drainage. For germination, a container with drainage holes will suffice, having 5 or 6 inches (12 or 15 cm) of depth and a few inches in diameter. Keep in mind that later you will have to replant your tree when it has already germinated and that the lemon trees will prefer a container that is wider than deep, so try to choose a pot that is wider. The lemon trees prefer spaces wider than deep, so try to choose one that is quite wide.

SOURCE

LAND
You can use all kinds of organic soil, but we recommend using a mixture of peat, perlite, vermiculite and organic fertilizer.

SUNLIGHT
The lemon trees require a lot of sunlight, especially when they are sprouting. Ideally, place it near the window or in the garden to receive the necessary hours of sunshine. In any case, if you are not in an appropriate climate, you can get a growth light. If you decide to plant it in a pot, put it in a place where you receive a good amount of sun daily.

NECESSARY MATERIALS
10 seeds of lemons
Kitchen paper
A little earth
A piece of kitchen paper

PROCEDURE FOR GERMINATION AND THEN TRANSPLANTATION TO THE MACETA

SOURCE

Get seeds of lemons or 'pepas', cut the lemon and take out the seeds.
Prepare several pieces of kitchen paper folded and moistened and place the seeds, cover with another paper of kitchen also humid.

SOURCE

Check every day if the paper is still wet and add a little water; very little. If you pass you will die, like a teaspoon and a half more or less. If the paper is broken prepare another and move the seeds. Let the seeds germinate, this may take several days

SOURCE

Once the seeds have germinated, we carefully remove them from the paper. And we proceed to transplant it to the pot.

SOURCE

To transplant the pot first, you must previously moisten the soil of the pot. To do this, place a part of the earth in a bucket or bucket and add water until the soil is well moist.
Next, moisten the pot and add the soil, leaving a few centimeters before reaching the surface.
Make a small hole and plant the lemon bud ½ inch (1.2 cm) below the ground, cover it with soil and gently water it with a bottle or spray.

SOURCE

Remember to place the container in a warm place where sunlight gives it. You should check it frequently, since you should not let the earth dry completely. Keep in mind that excess heat or humidity can cause the seedling to rot, therefore, try to balance these two elements

SOURCE

After two or three weeks you will start to grow the lemon bud.
Take care of the plant every day, moving pests away and adding a good amount of organic fertilizer to nourish it.
When it is of good size, transplants it to the garden and continues to monitor its growth. Finally, remember that you must start caring for your plant every day, providing water, sunlight and organic fertilizer.

TIPS
The lemon tree does not like the cold, the ideal time to plant is spring or autumn. The ideal temperature for its growth is between 15-21 degrees. Do not fertilize the lemon tree in winter and do not water it too much. With the cold the plants remain as lethargic.
