catch em if you can. 🐲🐉💗

Birds are a lot like airplanes; they like to land and take off into the wind.
Having the sun and wind at your back are ideal conditions for flight photography. Birds in flight are tricky subjects to photograph, i think i did pretty ok, with this set :)
But I feel there’s always something new to learn, always something new to inspire.
For me, that current inspiration is birds.

Once you start to see them, they truly are everywhere you look.
That’s the joy of living here – there are birds in abundance and if you learn to see them, you will be endlessly entertained.

the first time you see them take off from a field is unforgettable.

Birds are not easy. Unlike the plants and landscapes I usually shoot, birds are unpredictable and quick. And often they appear in abundance in low light, or in marshy, wet, cold places. All of these factors can be a hindrance to taking up bird photography???
They are wild creatures and are working hard to survive and reproduce.
It’s important to keep this in mind – while you may be wanting to get a great shot of a bird, if you interfere with its hunting to get that picture, you may be jeopardizing its very survival.
This is why you need patience.

when you’re shooting with a long lens even the slightest movement is likely to throw off your focus.so my junk folder is hUUgE ;) LOL
If a bird takes flight as soon as you raise your lens to shoot a picture, you’re too close, if your purpuse wasent to get them in flight :D
Remember to appreciate the birds. I love birding photography because it’s a technical and physical challenge

Even when I think a bird is sitting still, it really isn't. The breeze ruffles the feathers and if I could just get them to hold their breath for a few minutes my pictures would be much more crisp! !Tip

Right? I asume they willll move, so i try to follow them , even when theyr sitting, niicley and posing :P
Hm i kind of liiike winds play with their feathers :)
aww so great, thanks for the tip sweety :D

It very much is a demanding hobby, photo yoga should be taught at gyms. LoL. I always count myself lucky if I get a nice focused shot of a bird. The Eagles are easy, they just sit in their trees and watch you take pictures, getting them in focus when flying is another thing altogether.

ha ah i love photo yoga , spot on!! ha ah, and yes i agree, photographing is actually in general a great work out,.. & then ..dont get me started on em biiiirdies ;)
I agree, so do i, i fidn finding them is the most time consuming part, we have a lot of bird life heer BUT do to traffic, they linger futher away from the beaten pathS..
Cant say i find much eagels heer OR up north, Falcons thow, we have lots of :D
Jupp then its all of an sudden A ; follow, focus, do NOT shiver & click :P a LOOOt

I really try to capture birds, but I'm not doing so well at it thus far. I really think I need to invest in a good camera and learn how to capture things in motion! These are beautiful pictures.
