Doll rebellion - Fiction Story Contest

Nap seemed so short, but the clock said differently. Penelope got up looking for Charles and Jacob, but she was still alone in the house. “Hmm, I can still enjoy myself.” – she said to herself. Went to the kitchen, poured a glass of wine and sat on a couch. After a few sips of fine red wine, she went to the closet and unpacked the box of porcelain dolls. Penelope laid the dolls on the couch and started talking to them. 

“Remember how we used to play my porcelain friend?” – asked each one of them calling them by their names with nostalgy in her voice. When Penelope got the bigger picture, she realized that few of the dolls are missing. “How is that possible? Where are they? I placed them into the box before the nap… Hans!!! Where are they?” – wondered Penelope, questioning the dolls to avoid talking to herself again.
“They started a rebellion against Jacob! They are sick of him biting our parts off. That’s not a way to treat a doll!” – shouted Grumpy, one of Penelope’s first dolls.
Rubbing her eyes in disbelief, she saw that the Grumpy lips are really moving. – “How… is… that… even… possible?” – mumbled Penelope. Her mind was struck like a lightning when she repeated the words spoken by Grumpy. She ignored disbelief and motherly instinct activated. – “What do you mean by rebellion against Jacob? Explain your words!!! And better be honest with me, or else…” – yelled with rage at the dolls that were on a couch frozen still. Not waiting for the answer, she grabbed Hans before he could run away. She placed a lighter under his feet and gave a piercing look to the other dolls wanting to scare them.
Other dolls were not scared, they were terrified with that scene. But the show wasn’t over. Dolls were whispering to each other, and not one was brave enough to answer Penelope’s question. Penelope ignited the lighter, and Hans started to scream while his feet were getting hotter and hotter. Grumpy said – “The missing dolls are preparing an ambush for Jacob when he returns home. They will use Cupcake as a bait, and who knows how it will end.”. While he spoke these words, Hans was still screaming in pain. But it was all in vain, clothes caught fire and there was no more help for him.
Penelope with rage in her eyes asked – “Who’s next?” – giving them a hellish smile, after which dolls started to run away like Smurfs when they see Gargamel. Penelope started chasing them and returning them into the box. They all screamed from fear when her hand grabbed them. She went to Jacob’s room and caught the rebels as well.  Penelope had a lot more success than poor Gargamel. After sealing the box, she went outside and dumped them in big garbage container. Went home to her wine and couch thinking about old Til’s words when she was little girl. After all that excitement she was relieved that the dolls saga was finished.
Charles, Jacob and Cupcake returned home and found Penelope happy like on the day Jacob was born. “Honey this rest did you good, I see. I’m glad to see that.” – said Charles with a smile on his face.
