Foxie on a mission - A story for children aged 7-12 - PART 11

in #fiction6 years ago

There was a twinkle in the sky that Milo had never seen before. He squinted his eyes looking and looking on what at first seemed like glitter to him. His stiffened his tail and held his breath as a magical tree slowly appeared in the distance. At first it was very vague and he blinked a couple of times just to make sure that it was not his mind playing tricks on him.

While looking around to see what the others' reactions were, he saw a huge, peaceful smile on Foxie's face but it was Grandma Owl's expression that made him feel less awkward. She also looked stiffened. Her head was tilted a little to the side and it was clear that she was listening to something. Although Milo did not hear anything, he knew that he just had to concentrate a little more.

And so he did! Everything around him faded as he sat focusing on the tree. Slowly but surely, the beautiful voice Foxie was talking about earlier, became clearer.

"Is it a girl?" Milo asked without taking his eyes off the tree.

But before anyone could answer, loud thunder broke out and it was pouring with rain. Lightning blinded their eyes as the whole earth around them lit up. They all moved as one to find shelter in the woods. As Milo ran to get Foxie to safety, he noticed that the tree had disappeared along with the singing. It saddened him because it was the first time ever that anything like that had ever happened to him.

Once they were safely inside a hollow log, it was Grandma Owl who made the first sound. "There is something familiar about that voice," she said. "I've definitely heard it before but for the life of me, I can't put my feather on it!"

"This thunder," said Foxie. "It does not feel right."

Milo nodded. "The skies were clear and then BANG, thunder! Out of nowhere!" he added.

"We have to get to Magnus...and fast!" said Grandma Owl very worried. "In all my years on earth, I've never seen anything like this before!"
