FLASH FICTION: It's Hard to Die
Mike now stands on the edge of the Niger bridge, ready to jump, ready to leave this miserable world behind. His mind travels back to the betrayal he had suffered, how he had caught his wife in bed with his best friend; how she had confessed that their three children were not his.
Mike sheds hot tears and decides to leap. Just then, however, he hears a loud noise from behind. Mike's heart stops momentarily. A vehicle had just knocked down a small boy, his white brain peeping from his fragile skull.
Mike becomes terrified. At once, he climbs down the edge of the Niger bridge and walks home. He had learnt a great lesson - that it is hard to die.
