The disappearence of July Moore- Chapter 1

Peter grabbed his phone and pressed the snooze button on his alarm. This was the third time this morning and he wished that he could just pull the duvet over his head and sleep forever. He was not in the mood for work and everything just felt miserable ever since July left.

Life had to go on, but it was difficult. Things were going well between them and he was on the verge of asking her to marry him, when she just decided to call it quits and packed up and left. When he got home that night he thought there had been a break in, but most of his stuff were still there. July's clothes were gone and also most of her belongings.

She left no note, no explanation and when he phoned her number it had been disconnected and was no longer in use.  He phoned her parents but they did not want to give him any information and just told him that it was better that they did not have any contact.

It was a low blow, and it took him weeks to start feeling normal again.  He was sure they were meant for each other but July obviously did not feel the same.  He tried contacting her at work just to get some closure, but they informed him that she wasn't working there anymore.

How could anyone to this? He had absolutely no idea what he had done or if it was even his fault that she left.

In the beginning he thought that she might come back but he realized soon enough that he was waiting in vain. He took a week off from work just to get his mind straight but something prevented him from moving on. He blamed himself and that put him in a deep depression.

Weirdly enough he didn't miss July so much, but the anguish of being alone in the evenings were taking its toll. He started drinking more and last night he definitely had a few drinks too many. He didn't want to feel alone, and he knew that drinking was not the answer, but it made him feel better and made him sleep better.

This whole thing was just too much for him to handle. He knew he needed to see a therapist. His boss had given him the number of his own therapist and Peter picked up the phone to dial the number.  He made an appointment and was lucky to get one for today.  He phoned his boss and he was very supportive.

Peter got up to take a shower. He had to go and find this doctor's office and he didn't want to be late for his first session.

To be continued

Hopefully Peter will feel better after seeing the doctor, but I guess his faster medication should be that July returns.
