Jonathan and David were the best of friends. They met each other in kindergarten and immediately liked each other. They attended the same elementary school and went through all the phases in their teenage years together.  They were destined to be friends.

They even decided to go to the same university and they both studied to become lawyers. They had big plans, and planned to start their own office in the small town where they lived. It was only when David met Jenny that they grew a little apart, but Jonathan understood and gave them their space.

They went on with their lives and David and Jonathan, met up once a week to spend some quality time together. Jenny knew that it was a close relationship and she wouldn't dream of standing in their way. They were like brothers, and there was a bond between them that no one could break.

She gave them space to be the boys they were, and when she eventually introduced her best friend Sally to meet Jonathan, everyone thought that it was a match made in heaven. Sally fit right in, and David and Jonathan were happiest of all.

They were best men at each other's weddings, and they were there for each other when their own babies were born. They were proud parents together and everyone soon noticed that their kids were inseparable. This was a bonus for both David and Jonathan because they knew they would be able to continue their friendship as long as they were linked through their children.

As time went on, the kids grew up and David and Jonathan built their business together. They both became wealthy men and both these families were happy and content. When the kids left the house, they supported each other and the bond between them became even stronger.

When Jenny died a few years later, it was Jonathan that supported him, and he knew that he was going to be fine because he still had his best friend.

When it was time for them to retire, they sold the business and they bought two condo's next to one another in the retirement village.  Sally cooked for them and they spent most of their time together talking about the olden days and how good things were when they were young.

When Sally got sick Jonathan did not know how he was going to handle the situation but David supported him and when she died he was there to support his friend all the way just like he did for him.  It was a sad time, and they grew older and older and they often wished that they could have their young lives back.

They had no one else but each other, and when David suggested that they go on their last trip together, Jonathan did not even think twice. They were going to spend their last few years together traveling and spend their last days together.

It was getting dark and the long stretch to their final destination lay like a mountain in front of them. They still had a very long way to go, and even though they made turns to drive they were both tired and exhausted. They ran out of things to say a while ago and they were both just focusing to get to their destination.

When they started this trip they were both so motivated, but the closer they got the more tensed up they felt. They found themselves on a road between nowhere and somewhere, and they did not have a clue anymore which way they were going. Perhaps it was fate than drove them into this direction. They must have taken a wrong turn somewhere and they ended up on a gravel road.  They saw a faint light in the distance and continued to follow the light.

It was Jonathan who first realized where they were. He knew that this was going to end badly, but he knew that whatever happened he would be with his best friend.

They kept on driving towards the light, and no one was close when they went over the mountain side.  Neither of them saw it coming...but at least now they would spent eternity together...at last together forever.
