The community was now in an uproar. Some shouted one thing, the others another. Some were of the opinion that a mass exodus was inevitable, that it was time to leave this place they had referred to as home for so many years.

Others disagreed, stating that if indeed the sky was really falling, there would be no place to hide from the disaster, as the sky overhung everywhere, and trying to run away from what hung above was purely futile.

Others has a much more interesting and optimistic perspective. One wondered what the fragment that had fallen from the sky might possibly look like. Another wished to examine it as well, hoping to see if this possibly divine item was capable of being worked into something that could sell for an interesting price in the market.

Of course, there were yet others who were quite unwilling to believe that such a thing could happen as the sky falling on people’s heads. There were some who believed that if such a thing were to happen, it would most likely be very fatal, with the result only being Chicken’s corpse that would be found. Others still found it highly preposterous that the sky would fall; it was not in its nature to do so.

In any event, while some were ignorant and others were more willing to know the truth before believing such outlandish news, nobody was willing to return to the place where the sky had presumably fallen on Chicken’s head. For starters, Chicken herself was obviously unwilling to return there, and the way her friends embellished her story made it seem to be quite a feat of courage to go back there.

Now, the question arose as to who would go back to where the sky had menaced the hen. Nobody suddenly felt the need to check it out, giving various reasons for their sudden indisposition to carry out the exercise.

One said he had twisted his ankle, and was as such hard-pressed to run, if indeed there were ghosts patrolling the area. Another said she still had many pressing matters to attend to. Yet another wanted to eat breakfast, though why she didn’t go off to have breakfast immediately was anybody’s guess. And there was one who said he had to travel on urgent business, else he would have been pleased to offer his services for this expedition.

In the end, only one person volunteered himself to go to where the sky had fallen. It was Fox.

To be continued...
