one word @raj808 - gifted!

Gifted with words became actually a synonimous of raj808. I always learn an amount of new lexicon when I read his stories.

No doubt! :)

Thanks @jaynie. I'm so glad you enjoyed the ride to the wild side of fantasy/horror/mech madness... I don't really know how to define genre on this one. I enjoyed writing it and it's great to hear people enjoyed reading! It has always been my dream to write fiction which people enjoy, gotta give some credit to @f3nix for the start, and igniting that spark of inspiration for this short fiction :-)

Well @raj808 I definitely think it is an avenue which you should pursue as you definitely have a natural affinity for it :)

I agree with @jaynie... gifted. I think you showed more parsimony in your use of language in this story, but there was no imaginative deficit because of that. Your story line was clear, the emotion vivid and the imagery dreadful (in a good way) :)

Thanks @agmoore. It is funny you should say this:

I think you showed more parsimony in your use of language in this story, but there was no imaginative deficit because of that.

My writing tutor used to always say that I needed to reign in my use of language but I see it rather a tempering the sword in the fire. Sometimes I can let my merging of poetic style with fiction get the better of me and it becomes something which is unsure of what it is, I am aware of this and try to balance it now when writing. I do remember telling my writing tutor that he needed to spend less time trying to squash originality and more times seeking to nurture it. He laughed at the time and conceded I may have a point. I think what I'm saying is that sometimes a style is built over time and I feel like I'm just getting to that point where mine is starting to get that definition, the sword has taken shape and has a keen edge! I just need to try it out on the battlefield now by writing a novel 😉

I think creative energy is a gift. You obviously have it. A few times in my writing career I have felt that surge. It's like a high. You don't need to tame it, ever--why would you? But you will learn to be in command of it. That's what I hope your writing teacher was saying. Have fun writing--that's part of the gift :)

Yes you are right about creative energy. I did imaginative writing in university and consider myself a career writer at this point. I think you've also hit the nail on the head that my tutor was just trying to guide us all toward that perfect balance between creativity and craft. To take a hold of inspiration and shape it, rather than letting it shape what you're writing. I just used to try to wind him up is all. It is a particularly British trait and especially the part of the country I'm from, we're always taking the mick ;-)

He has always his unmistakable style, where poetry mixes with narration.

You established the standard in this edition in terms of battle action and clash of cosmic forces. I would have liked a bit more of background.. I know.. the world limit.. but maybe some other hints of plot. In fact, I liked the section where the female celestial entity shows all her cynical atritude towards himanity.

Ha ha, pesky word limit got me mate. I wanted to build more plot/structure and further explore the relationship between Xarag and his queen and also explain how the divine connections were manipulating the human world etc but I just didn't have space. I edited this quite heavily from around 700-597 words to keep my promise to the @bananafish ;-) I was always taught the cardinal rule of 'show don't tell' and I stick to it rigidly, this is why I rarely use a strong first person narration in my stories. Anyway, I tried to scatter hints and facts through the body of the story to color the imagination and hopefully build an impression of the subtext boiling underneath. I think I may start trying to find the time to write follow up pieces to some of the 'finish the story' entries I write. Like longer short stories set in the world that has been born from the process. Thanks as always for your great comment and for running these challenges @f3nix :-)

Apologies for reverting on your comment only now, my friend. It's interesting to learn about your behind the scenes.. did you ever publish a book or a poetry collection? You know, about the follow up, I thought about it and I agree with you, this contest has already produced enough material for some good storylines to be continued. As a matter of fact, some ideas, like that of the tesseract n.19 or the one set in Prague based on Gustavo Rol, are wandering in my personal hyperuranion of stories-to-be since a long time .. A cool thing to do one day might be to create a book with a collection of the best stories from the contest. Now that we slowly start to participate all together (everyone due to his possibilities), I hope that we'll always maintain this high level of quality and inspiration and maybe attract some other great authors in the steemit community 😉

Your writing is always so good!
I doubt I can ever achieve this property of language, but I can learn from each of your stories

Thanks for that fantastic comment @marcoriccardi, I have enjoyed many of your stories too mate. As to the property of language, that stuff comes with time and practice. I also find reading widely helps but equally important is regular creative writing and experimenting with poetry which opens the mind to different angles and flow for fiction also.

I am honored and humbled that you would find my stories instructive and all I can say is that makes me really happy that anyone rates them highly. This is a long time coming for me to have any confidence in my writing, as I had a long period of writers block and creative stagnancy after university. Feels good to be a part of such a vibrant and active writers community :-)

You're too kind 😊
My main difficulty is that English isn't my native language, and even if I try hard, after years of studying, reading and writing (unfortunately much less talking), my ability still needs a lot of improvement 😅
For this reason I appreciate rich and complex writings like yours, or for example @calluna's, even if they're difficult to read for me: I learn new lexicon and new grammar constructions 😎
