At least at the end they were sane, so they hadn't lost their mind. (Although the calmness of seeing your own death coming might normally be more unsettling; maybe our character had cracked after all. Finally, sweet, sweet release.)
Possibly insane. Though, in regards to what they dealt with, would it not be more sane to embrace such a fate? switches to inner-Noby Then again, what is sanity?
