Anytime Now | #fiftywords Challenge in Micro Fiction
The old lady sat at one end of the mahogany table, shifting her gaze between the plate of fried chicken and the basket of biscuits. He should be back anytime now.
She waited patiently, looking forward to supper with her husband whom she buried in the family graveyard this morning.
I just came across this fifty words challenge hosted by @jayna and thought it was very interesting! So, this is my post on the prompt "feast". So often we take food and the company over food for granted. And so often we can't bear to lose it, can't bear to know that it is gone.

Hmm, a fifty word challenge sounds interesting! Telling a vivid, well-rounded story using so few words is far from easy, so well done for achieving it. 😊

This is beautiful and sad, @joeylim. Nicely done. (One suggestion: I would change "this" in the last sentence to "that." It works better since your story is told in past tense.)
