At the beach, staring at the horizon.
"Back in my day, we could actually swim in the sea."
he said nostalgically.
"Eww, how could you swim in all that rubbish, grandpa?"
she asked, clearly shocked.
The grandpa sighed, it wasn't like that back then...
I echo @jayna's sentiment.... Stories like this help underline the importance of minding nature and our environment... Mess them up, and all the money in the world will be useless, yet we continue to abuse both to make a quick buck...

Oh poor pops, he got the flack but got no long-term reward of a bright ending to his life. Now he’s condemned to live with a contingent outcome that he had no control over. Resteem’d this post.

Welcome and welcome. Hope yer story makes it into the “highlights of the week” §.
Perhaps it is not so sad. The thing about futuristic and apocalyptic tales is that they remind us of how important it is to preserve our environment. It is my hope and belief that efforts underway now can help to thwart this reality from coming true.
Well, in the story, that reality already came true, that's why it's quite sad, imo.
And yeah, I quite agree with the rest :D.
Hopefully, realities like the one in the story, can be prevented from coming true.
