Capsule Film Review: Sin City: A Dame to Kill For (2014)

in #film5 years ago

Sequel of Sin City, 2005 immensely succesful adaptation of Frank Miller's comic book, was made under the principle "if it isn't broken, don't fix it". Director Robert Rodriguez tries to recycle and copy the previous film just as he tried to adapt comic book by faithfully reconstructing Frank Miller's images. Unfortunately, what looked like a refreshing approach nine years earlier looks like an uninspired recycling, which includes some of the same actors, including Bruce Willis in a role of character conveniently appearing as a ghost. On the other hand, some of the cast has been replaced, while one of the rare additions represents title character of psychopathic femme fatale in which Eva Green acts the brains out and embodies all film noir cliches. This segment is the most interesting, but it has the shortest running time and drowns in other, more mundane and repetitive stories.
