The Pursuit of Happyness — I am personally think this is a very inspiring and encouraging family movie. This is also a narrative biographical film.

At first I thought this a movie on how to find your happyness and I expected it as a movie which brings laughter and joy. However, the truth is that this is a movie about a man who is struggling very hard to strive for himself and his family. I could not imagine the hardships he went through before became a successful stokebroker, Chris Gardner.

There are few points here make me to write a post about this movie.

1. We will give in all if that appears as the only option we have in life.

He is a father, who was having financial difficulty to even live his own life but he never gives up on his child. He grabbed his only chance to be a unpaid trainee in a stockbroker company. He kept calling the list of numbers without taking any break to go to washroom or have a coffee drink. He treasured every minute of his time at work, he needs to leave earlier to line up for homeless shelter. There was one time, he was late and he failed to get a room. Guess where were they staying for that night? Bathroom covered with lots of toilet papers — that was their sleeping place with the expected and non-stop knocking.

*So, how far will you go for your dream? How much have you put in to make it comes true?

2. You can lose your money but not your self-respect and dignity

Most of the time, people tend to be self-pity to earn sympathy and kindness from others. They wish others could treat them like a victim so that they could get what they need in an easier way. However, Chris never did that. He did not tell others that he is homeless to get more salary or living allowance, instead he protected his dignity with whatever he can do as far as to lend his money to his boss, which is more than what he could lose at the lowest point of his life.

He was an optimistic and positive person. He acted naturally when his boss asked if he was going to a trip when the boss saw him with luggage. Not only this, he was being creative when his son asked where they are going to sleep that night which he had lost his shelter. These are the wonderful traits in him which made him to be different among others.

*If you were he, how long would you be resilient to keep it going in the lowly circumstance?

The remarkable statement from him to his son. He wanted his son to know that a persistent pursuit of your own dreams is the best way to bring a sense of happiness to your life.

I actually remembered vividly where Will Smith's character was crying in the men's room with his son sleeping on the floor when he blocked the public men's room just so he and his son could get a good night's rest.

The crying scene just fused into my memory. I don't even need to watch again to remember that with dignity and perseverance, you can pursuit happiness.

Thank you for such a reminder through sharing this post.

Yes you are good in your memory. Yes he cried in the toilet and it didn't wake his son up with all the noise. Thanks for your sharing. 😊

I remember his son losing his toy... I was so upset by that.
