Titanic (1997) - Repeated Dialogue
"If you jump, I jump."
The idea is established the first time they meet. Jack says he is involved now. He will have to jump in after Rose if she dives off the ship.
Later when he wants to hear her say she will be okay, it comes up again.
"If you jump, I jump, remember?"
Even later when Rose leaves her rescue boat, back onto the ship, back to Jack, "If you jump, I jump, right?"
From the start we have planted a union, we solidify it, then we stand upon it. A motif built from spoken words, from an idea.
Great use of repeated dialogue in a classic film.
Written and directed by James Cameron.
Be well.
