Curve (Film): Review.

in #film5 years ago

I found this movie by chance, of those nights that, changing the channel, you find it and decide to see it. And well, it's that simple, I saw it and to take advantage of it, I decided to write a review about it and thus earn a couple of cents. That is all.

Year: 2015
Category: Horror, Thriller.
Director: Iain Softley .
Cast: Julianne Hough, Teddy Sears, Penelope Mitchell, Madalyn Horcher, Drew Rausch, Kurt Bryant.

Plot

Mallory, a young girl who is undecided about marriage, travels alone in her car, and then her car breaks down in the middle of nowhere, but there's no problem, because a hitchhiker appears who helps her turn on the car. So she decides to give him a lift, but to Mallory's surprise and anguish, this strange hitchhiker begins to show her true personality, so she will not hesitate to take extreme measures.

Opinion

The beginning of the film does not have a great connection with the rest of the story, but it is used as a method to introduce us to the characters, and thus show coherently the future outcome of the events. In this, presents the sentimental situation of the protagonist, in fact, at that time I thought it was a romance film, but fortunately the film makes a turn, and leads us to its true story.

The film shows the story of Mallory, who is the classic blonde and attractive girl who is weak at the beginning of the film, but forced by the situation slowly progressing and hardening her character as the story progresses. She decides to take a stranger in his car, because he helped her turn it on when it had gone off, but suddenly, the subject leaves his kind behavior and becomes the classic psychopath that these types of movies always have. He forces her to drive her to an abandoned hotel, but... but... but... Mallory is not exactly known for taking the smartest decisions, but quite the opposite, so she decides to divert the car to a cliff.

It is then that culminates what was the classic movie road, and becomes a kind of survival in which she will try to survive despite being trapped in his car, which is overturned in the middle of nowhere, adding the fact that the psychopath is still alive, and that apparently he is not known for his good decisions, so he decides simply to "enjoy" the condition in which our protagonists are, instead of killing her, or what do I know? do anything else.

Despite being a fairly simple story, the film maintains enough tension and a progressive advance that makes us not bored, but continue to see. And although the part where Mallory tries to survive can be a bit heavy or slow, it is also the most necessary part of the film.

The end takes the predictable path, the film returns to the classic. Even so, that is not his biggest problem, because what really affects the film is that the villain is not well developed, it is possible that the director wanted to play with the unknown, but that really did not work very well.

I see this movie as a perfect instrument for Julianne Hough, the protagonist, to demonstrate her acting skills, because except for the moment in which Teddy Sears makes his conversion from good to bad, he does not show anything really interesting as actor.

And although it is true that it has its flaws, the film serves as a second-class entertainment element, which can be seen without our eyes bleeding.

Score

5/10

Movie slightly entertaining, I could not say I recommend it, but I do not condemn it either, you can see it but under your own responsibility.
