Sony Pictures makes a SUCCESS IN BOX OFFICE with the film that starts its own "Marvel Universe"...VENOM.

Hi Steemians, Sony Pictures has surprised critics and audiences with the success of the film that begins its own Marvel universe.

We Are Money

If anyone thought that this film would raise so much money, I think they would be lying and I even think that the director, scriptwriters and some actors who participated in this film believed at some point that it would be a great success for the box office in these last months of the year, I think only Tom Hardy had the determination to believe in this film and thought that his work would like many people since in many interviews in each promotion made in different parts of the world, he talked not only about this film but also about its sequel and many people just thanked him and used the famous phrase "You have to wait and see how this film is going", and yes, of course they are right and that's because he's heard many actors, producers and others believe that they have total success in their hands and in the end they don't even collect the money spent on making their films.

And this is where I ask myself: Sony Pictures knew this was going to happen to Venom? It could be, the month selected for its premiere was foreseen that it would only compete with Halloween and the premiere of this film would happen 2 weeks after the premiere of Venom, then it would give you the advantage in collecting what was necessary to stay in the box office, also remember the great promotion that this film had, where we could see many trailers, TV spots, different posters, give what the public wanted, EMINEM creating a song for the film, they actually did things the way movies were promoted before the interruption of films like Batman by Nolan and Iron Man, I think Sony Pictures did everything possible to promote his film, the first in the universe Marvel with every character they have the right to use, knowing that many expected everything to be a big disaster that would ultimately make Sony Pictures give all his characters living in the "Spider Universe" to Disney/Marvel, as happened with Spider-Man.

First reactions on Twitter

Since the news was given that a Venom film would be made, many saw it as a good idea and others did not, those who wanted to see this character again in the cinema, thought that should copy much of what was seen in the comics and move away from what was seen in Spider-Man 3 and those who saw this new film as a horrible idea, were the ones who just want Disney/Marvel to have all the rights of their characters and thus make a wider universe by talking about their movies, this was the main enemy facing Sony Pictures, this group of people who do not see anything good done by others with the characters of Marvel, They only see that these movies are useful if they are under the dominion of the house of Mickey Mouse and Marvel, they don't see the day they give up making movies to make them so they lose their rights and all these characters return to their real home and I tell them, most of the time I give them the reason and I hope so, that all these characters come together in one house and thus create many other great stories that we find in the comics, but if there is something that bothers me to be a fan of this type of films, that is the toxic fandom that bothers, there are people who defend the indefensible, influence opinions and makes it very annoying to see social networks and this group of people were defeated by the success of Venom.

Other reactions

Not even with Justice League, I had read so many tweets, editorials against a film and not only fans of MCU, also fans of DC Comics, it was crazy and tired because these people along with "critics", said how bad this film was, said nothing good, absolutely nothing, but were they right to say that Venom is bad? I will give you my personal opinion, Venom is not the best comic movie I have seen, Is it the worst? Absolutely not, I think I've seen worse, but I don't really find a reason for your box office success because the development of your story, action scenes and acting of some of your actors, make this film regular, which if I praise the design of Venom and of course I'm celebrating that the main role has been given to _Tom Hardy_, I really liked your acting, I think it represents very well a successful person who feels he owns the world to a person who loses everything and in the end shows how to create a great friendship with an alien symbiont, in each phase shown of Eddie Brock in this film is for the great performance of Hardy as he does it in great way, he is the best of this film, he is the film.

Yes, We Are Venom

But we didn't answer the most important question... Why did the audience support this film so much? I will try to answer this question by showing what I think happened to the great acceptance of the public with this film, first we must review what this director, scriptwriter and producers use to make this film, we will see that here it completely moved away from what was done in films from MCU and DC universe, I can even say that it moved away from what was done by 20th Century Fox with films about the characters of X-MEN, but if it was faithful to something and that is to make a film about comics as they were done before, those were stories that had to wait until the last act to see the main character already transformed into the hero or vigilante, with simple action scenes, with a catchy phrase as seen in many film from the 80's, for many this is a clear regression to everything that has been done in this type of films, but there seems to be an audience saturated by seeing the same formula over and over again and I think Venom, gave a new audience something they had never seen in the cinema, the other thing is that the date it was released, I think no film about comics has been released in October, there have been releases of the other companies in November and December, but never in a month where it is always related to horror movies and even movies that are in competition for the big movie awards and here is the greatest success of Sony Pictures, the other thing is that to wait for the release of a movie of this type, you have to wait until the second week of December to see Aquaman and at the end of that month to see the second release of Sony, as is Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse, I think that's why Venom attracted all those people who didn't find anything to see and they thought this story was good for them, it was simple, good protagonists and better yet, it's a very quick story, here's another positive thing about this film and it's that for many film fans, they went to the movies without any expectation, they knew they were going to see and were satisfied and that's why the success.

¿823 millions? Thank You World

But Where does this success come from? You have to remember that the highest percentage of this film comes from the international box office, 74% comes from all over the world, of the $823 million raised, $611 million comes from outside the U.S. where only made $211 million and this will make people want to subtract this great success and comparing this film with the first movie Spider-Man at MCU you can see that this film had a box office of $880 million, the highest percentage of the international box office, $545 million and at the local box office with a lower percentage raising $334 million, this did in 21 weeks in North America, instead Venom has only been 14 weeks, but we see how much each of these films cost, the MCU film, with the support of critics, bloggers and others had a budget of 175 million, without all the publicity done, Venom that could not count on the support of any other comic hero, bloggers, and even less the critics, had a budget of only 100 million $ and by the expenses in advertising, it was expected to raise more than 400 million to cover everything and look now as it has gone in the box office, this film like it or not is a total success, has broken several records of collection of different films and this still makes many people can not believe it and I must say that I am one of those people. For now Sony Pictures is already starting to use all this great achievement in his future films in his universe Marvel, has set 2 dates for 2020 where he will surely release the character Morbius, film starring Jared Leto and surely the other date is for the sequel to Venom, I just hope they do not stay with the achievement of this film and seek to improve much more, do things of good quality and it seems they have found a formula to be successful.

Thank you very much for reading and if you liked it don't forget to comment and vote.
