I have to admit that I will at times be a lot more lenient to bad films that have Mark-Paul Gosselaar in them because I was such a huge fan of "Saved by the Bell" back in the 80's and 90's (it's hard to believe that show was only on for 3 years but i suppose it was based in a high school and you can't stay there forever)

MPG plays "Cooper" in an absurd dark-comedy about the college life of two students who, like so many actual college students, neglect their studies and party all the time. This encapsulates a vast majority of my friends when I was in university so many years ago.

After learning they are both going to fail and get kicked out of school they discover a little-known code in the University policy that states if your roomate commits suicide the surviving roomates will receive A's in all their classes for that semester.

Cooper and his roomate Josh begin the search for "at-risk" individuals to recruit as a roomate in order to push them over the edge so they will kill themselves thus resulting in straight A's for the two of them. It definitely is an effed up premise for a story and the SJW's of today would probably protest the movie saying it is "making light of mental illness" even though it is a work of fiction.

I like the movie because I really like Mark Paul Gossellwhatever and his performance as Cooper was fantastic. Cooper is an idiot but doesn't realize it. His ideas are absurd and he doesn't know things like where the "li-bary" is. This movie was almost universally panned by both professional critics and movie-goers but even some of them admitted that MPG's performance was great saying "Mr. Gosselaar is so good, however, that his performance as Cooper sometimes overrides the film's adolescent tone."

This movie barely made back its $14 million budget pulling in just over 15 million at the box-office. It may have later made a bit more on DVD sales (I bought one) but who knows. This is not important information. Basically, if you have a soft spot in your heart for Saved by the Bell also, you will probably enjoy this movie. If you don't even know what that is or were not alive, there is a good chance you will not care for Dead Man on Campus because it is, admittedly, pretty dumb.

I give this film a completely undeserved and exceptionally biassed
