Hoist the colours, proud fiction writers!

Our 51st edition has the tribe's flag waving proudly above the waters of Steemit! Greetings, fine fellows of the Bananafish! @Brisby here and I'd like to give a bow of appreciation to @Gaby-Crb and @Calluna for providing us with a beginning piece that brimmed with tantalizing possibilities. Here's to the hope for more co-written prompts in the future. 🍻

This community's strength is from the contributions and efforts of our members and participants. Each edition gives us the opportunity to expand upon our writing skills, showcase the impressive talents of the phenomenal writers on this platform, and create friendships through our comments as we exchange ideas. This solidarity has me wishing to give a coconut scented hug to each and every one of you!

Speaking of that golden fuzzy feeling, let's all congratulate @Darthgexe for his well deserved vote from the Curie Community for his story!

We love what C² is doing, and urge our writers to please consider voting for the @c-squared community witness!

  • Keep those cheers coming for @Josephsavage and @Steembasicincome! 🎉 Joseph was kind enough to gift an additional 50 SBI units for our golden yellow deity to distribute unto the fabulous writers in our community! Anyone who has been on the blockchain longer than a minute can see what a precious gift this is! Our sincere gratitude to you, Joseph!

Thanks to the precious input from @Gaby-Crb

and @Calluna our winners are:

  • GRAND PRIZE - 8 STEEM: @Blueeyes8960
Blueeyes8960's return comes with a tale of vengeance. As the story progresses, Lucy Dankworth's memory of meeting the elitist Ian Dankworth builds the depth of her character and motivations. Humiliated by the insults given to her by the owner of Dankworth Vineyards during a trip with her friends, the reader begins to suspect that his accidental death was far from such. The pieces fall into place along with how patient and determined Lucy was to exact her full revenge. Full of brilliant touches throughout, don't miss reading this piece!

  • SECOND PRIZE - 4 STEEM: @Cyemela
Cy gives us a story that casts aside the assumptions of the email being a scam to focus on the connection made by two strangers sharing the same name. The protagonist recalls the time spent with Ian Dankworth when he was alive as they shared their memories and experiences while smoking a few joints. The time spent forming between them a brotherly bond. This leads him to consider the similarities between himself and the deceased. That despite the accumulated assets of Ian, the man was missing something more important in his life. The surviving Dankworth resolves that should he receive the funds from Mr. Kent, he'll put off using money as an excuse to begin a family of his own. An amazing story with heart that you'll be glad that you read.

  • THIRD PRIZE - 2 STEEM: @Darthgexe
Darthgexe's entry has the furtastic Neelix featured prominently. Here the fine feline is an integral character, the extent of which isn't fully realized until the end. The stakes are heightened with the arrival of the police investigating the death of Dankworth's cousin, Sophia. Elements from the beginning are woven with finesse as the suspense builds. The ending is well paced, tying up the threads while leaving behind just enough for the reader to wonder. Thoroughly enjoyable, I encourage everyone to give this work from Darthgexe a read!

  • POPULAR VOTE - 3 SBI: @Maparari
Maparari's ending had the readers shaking with laughter! The details from the beginning are woven well into this comedy of escalating errors. Line by line, the exchanges between the surviving Dansworth, Larry, and his poor beleaguered girlfriend deliver hilarity. You'll never guess what happens to the beloved Neelix. The delivery and timing of Maparari's finale makes this story one that I hope everyone treats themselves to!

  • BEST COMMENT - 2 SBI: We've a tie with 1 SBI each to @Theironfelix & @Calluna
No stranger to gifting writers poetry inspired by their stories, Felix went on a spree this week! Ranging from thoughtful prose to a 'Ghostbusters' inspired song, check out the comments section of the entries to enjoy these poems for yourself!

The responses garnered from Cal's incredible comments made it impossible for her not to receive a piece of this week's best comment pie. The authors truly appreciate her thoughts and observations, citing these types of replies as one of the many reasons they enjoy participating in our contest.
