Industrial Decadence In A Residential Area (Suomieksotiikkaa SAATANA!)
A few kilometres to the southwest of the city centre of Lahti, a residential area has been built where there used to be factories. There is a stand-alone smokestack that was not part of a building but was in the middle of the yard of an old industrial building still being used for industrial purposes. There is also a weird structure left standing next to a parking area and some residential buildings.

This odd-looking structure had inexplicably been left standing. I'm not complaining, though.
This building must be some kind of a storage. When the hatch opens, some material comes out of it to be transported away.

I have no doubt that when would-be tenants and home buyers see this thing, they will be clamoring to get to live next to it.
Excellent pictures. It would be great if that tower was in good condition to climb, clear with security measures, not to go crazy or drunk as you tell Cinefilo.
Thanks. Even if it the ladder were safe let alone reachable for climbing I don't think it would be worth the trouble. You'd be facing a brick wall all the way to the top and back. Because you'd have to hold on to the ladder at all times with at least one hand, you couldn't take any photos. The phone camera cannot be operated with just one hand. The view from the large ski jumping tower is much, much better. You can take a look if you want. It would be a waste of time to climb a chimney like that.
That second structure is something like a grain-storage silo?
Personal favourite out of these is the slightly angled B&W closeup of the ladder -- it creates a good perspective, I feel.
And there's also the fact that I have a bit of a personal fascination with hights and ladders that lead to and from them. :)

Stairway to heaven, all of the versions, are really weird and great. If I didn't know that it's photographed from downward view, I'd guess it's some kind of wooden pier with metal tingys to attach a boat to. Pretty weird feeling in those ladder photos. :) Really excelent photos!

I'm a middle-aged family man. Teen-aged boys, drunken guys or the feeble-minded who are particularly open to suggestion climb ladders like that
