Abolitionist Abstractions Vlog 90: Gone fishing!
Here is today's vlog! Murder Dog and I have spent the past couple of days in our new location, and I have done a bunch of fishing. The bait that I had purchased a couple of days ago managed to last, so there was many an hour spent down by the pond. It has been rather relaxing and I had a decent amount of success!
With all the fishing I've been doing, it gave me an opportunity to practice my fillet skills. The last big one I caught ended up also being the best job I've done so far. Hopefully they're as tasty as I hope! We did attempt to do some hiking but most of the trails we found stopped at dead ends. Since that adventure didn't go as planned, I spent a couple of hours collecting and chopping wood for the fire. Tonight we will attempt to build another fire using only the wood we have collected. Wish us luck!

I thought I would comment since you mentioned trying to find dry firewood. Every camper should know how to find dry firewood even in the rain. You look for dead limbs that have fallen and hung in the branches of trees. These will be dry because of the tree cover and not being on the ground as you mentioned. Also, you combine that with what I call "lighter knot" that you find by kicking apart a rotten pine log on the ground and pulling out the knots. These are natures fire starters. Knowing these two tips you can start a fire in the rain. Always leave a hole in your fire lay towards the wind direction so you can add more dry material and lighter knot and blow air into the fire.
